Squamish, British Columbia, is nestled among the coastal mountains of western Canada. When the Pacific Great Eastern Railway expanded in the 1910s, the town of Squamish was established at the north end of Howe Sound and named for the indigenous tribe that resided in the area. Today, Squamish is found along the Sea to Sky corridor, Highway 99. This corridor is one of North America's most scenic coastal routes. It offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, old-growth forests, and turquoise fjords. Squamish is within an hour's drive of Vancouver to the south and Whistler to the north.
