The operation of commercial motor vehicles designed or used to transport between 9 and 15 passengers (including the driver) for direct compensation provided none of the passengers is being transported a distance greater than 75 air miles may be required to have special city, state and/or federal license. Direct compensation means payment made to the motor carrier by the passengers or individual acting on behalf of the passengers for the transportation services provided, and not included in a total package charge or other assessment for highway transportation services. The vehicle must also be equipped with restrictive barriers between passengers and driver if alcohol beverages are being consumed by any passenger.
