The hotel gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. Also, when we booked our stay, the immediately called me to let me know that they accidentally overbooked their rooms but because it was our anniversary, they upgraded our room to a suite. The hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Carmel By The Sea. The furniture and art decor is beautiful . It's situated In the midst of downtown Carmel where the art galleries and wine tastings are. It is only a few blocks from Clint Eastwood's Hog's Breath restaurant, which we highly recommend.

This property has recently been fully renovated (reopened early May 2024). Everything looks very new, clean, and modern. The bed was comfortable, ac/heat worked fine, shower was decent. The rooms had many thoughtful modern touches that I liked a lot.
The location is perfect - just on the outskirts of the main downtown area. Everything was easily walkable, but it was easy driving away at the end of our stay, avoiding the constant foot traffic of the main downtown area.

Breakfast was ample and very delicious. Sausages could use a little improvement, maybe pork instead of turkey.

Carmel is an incredibly charming town surrounded by gorgeous nature. Great boutiques, great restaurants, and great scenery. The downside is that it can get very very crowded and it is super expensive.

Carmel is such an enchanting village!!
Carmel is such an enchanting village!! The shops and art galleries are amazing! The trees and flowers that line all the streets are lush and mature- as the trajectory of the town slopes down gradually to the most beautiful white sand beach that spreads for miles along the Monterey Bay!! There are many dining options and coffee shops too. Truly a world class destination❤️

It is a beautiful, classy, step back in time village with a lovely beach at the foot of Main Street. Dozens of attractive, luscious cafes and restaurants within the several block main shopping area. Great designer shops, local and International. It is expensive for a middle class traveler, but not out of reach. Such wonderful ambiance and not snooty. Across from Tiffany's is the local Drug Store with hysterical greeting cards for $3.66. BARGAIN! Not for kids - too slow.
Also, it is great to be a 10 minute drive from a much cheaper and more active Monterey, with many activities for children and adults. A double dose of California at its best.

Carmel is a great beach to visit.
Carmel is a great beach to visit. Very pretty surrounding area, white sandy beach. But water is cold! Carmel in general tends to be very rainy/cloudy. Its not necessarily "lay out and tan" kind of vibes. But more walk the beach, play fetch with your dog, find a good nook to read a book, surf if thats what you're into.

This is our third time coming to Carmel, and if I win the lotto, I will buy here. It is like nothing else you can experience on the West Coast. There are so many shops, wine tasting, hundreds of wonderful restaurants, and, did I say shopping? We coordinated this trip with a concert at the Sun Set Center. If you can attend a concert there, you will not be let down. It was amazing and within walking distance.
We had an ocean view king room with fireplace - the view was spectacular and the best part of the room! The hotel is a refurbished older property. The updated rooms are nice and comfortable but nothing special. The bathroom was small but functional. The location is great and walkable to downtown Carmel restaurants and the beach. Be aware that the hotel is up a hill if you are in an ocean view room and may be a difficult walk for people with mobility issues and you will need to drive. The staff is great, very friendly and accommodating.
Unlike a hotel or motel, these are cabins, so you don't hear noises from neighboring walls. Set in a lot of foliage, trees, bushes, flowers, grass, great small pond surrounded by lounge chairs and tables and chairs, a River Rock BBQ pit, pretty, clear small lights strung over and about; quiet, room itself very comfortable and everything worked; close enough to drive to the enchanting Ocean Ave. Downtown Carmel by the Sea shops within 5 minutes, to enjoy all of the wonderful shops and restaurants.
This property is located within walking distance of everything in Carmel by the Sea. Check-in was easy and Inge was very helpful showing us everything on the map and giving us parking instructions. It was great to have a fireplace in the room. The room had a fridge, microwave and coffee supplies. There are tables outside to have a glass of wine (you can borrow glasses from the office) or lunch and enjoy the pretty flowers on the grounds. It’s an older hotel but charming and well taken care of.
It was very close to town and we really enjoyed that it was an indepentently owned hotel. The room was spacious and there was a little cute courtyard with a table (it seemed it was primarily for use for the rooms directly off the courtyard, but we sat there anyway!). The fireplace warmed the place right up. It also made a big difference traveling as a family to have 1.5 bathrooms in our room. The hotel itself is a great value for the Carmel area. We would stay there again.
A very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was nice, with a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. While the hotel is old/historic the hotel is old, it is well-maintained. Some people seem to think this is not the case, but if you're looking for a brand new place, then this isn't the best choice.
Large rooms, modern aesthetic and looked new-ish.
Location was good, just off the highway and about 5 mins from Carmel-by-the-Sea
Right next to a gas station and shopping center which was convenient. Overall, great for a short stay esp if you find the Carmel hotel rooms too tiny/in need of updation.
A relaxed friendly hotel with welcoming staff in an excellent position in Carmel. Our room had a large balcony looking towards the sea which was lovely for catching the early evening sun. Very good value for a hotel with swimming pool in this central but quiet position in Carmel.
Great Hotel, Perfectly placed in Carmel If you like walking to the downtown to shop and eat. Daily walks to the beach are wonderful and again perfect location to do this activity daily. The courtyard was lovely with tables and umbrellas to sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors
The hotel is a bit dated but in very good condition and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast is a plus. They deliver to your doorstep and it's delicious. The location is great, we could walk to the best restaurants in Carmel and it's only 10-15 minutes to Point Lobos.
Beautiful little hotel in Carmel, with wonderful helpful and friendly hosts. Rooms have an open fireplace, ready to use which we really appreciated. Its location is perfect, close to the town centre, nature reserve and the beach.
The area of the hotel is excellent, close to the beach and a 12 minute walk from the center.
The hotel has opened a couple of months ago after a complete renovation.
I strongly recommend it when visiting Carmel by the Sea.
very friendly staff, small hotel with a lot of space, nice details, easy parking, great views and close to the beach as well as to the shop/ restaurant area of Carmel
In the center of Carmel, close to everything, Free parking, the rooms are spacious and , overall it is very good value for money. I would come again to this hotel.
