The location can't be beat. Literally steps from the beach. Easy walking distance to the Capitola Village with shopping and restaurants. Parking for one vehicle is included in the price. There are no resort fees. Our room (125) had a small kitchen with a gas stove and oven, small refrigerator, coffee pot, small dining table and 2 chairs. It has a separate living room with couch, love seat and small table with chairs and a flat screen wall mounted TV. The bedroom has a queen size bed with newer mattress, drawer, 2 bed side tables with lamps, one charging station for phones, small closet. The bathroom is small and the shower is very small. Larger size guest might not fit in the shower. Small sink and small shelf under the sink, no other storage in the bathroom.

The beaches are nice and easy to access.
The beaches are nice and easy to access. The wharf is a nice place to shop and eat. If you visit in the fall be sure to bring layers of clothes because it CA be chilly in the morning and evening. Shadow brook restaurant is a great place to eat. The food is delicious and the staff members are great and attentive.

I couldn’t say I would change anything in this beautiful well maintained hotel. The staff was great. The breakfast was wonderful an all the amenities were as described. I’ve stayed here a few times and was only disappointed in the higher prices and the mixup in giving our keys to other guests by mistake, and on the 2nd day of our 3 day stay, our keys were all deactivated. Thanks for the “ I’m sorry” goody bags! I would appreciate a free nite on a future stay

Lovely seaside ‘village’ vibe. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, quaint shops and lots of restaurants. My favorite always is Shadowbrook Restaurant and I like to stay at the Capitola Hotel whenever I can! Great area for wandering through shops and along the sea.

Capitola has a friendly and inclusive vibe. Lots of families, older folks like us, and younger couples as well. It is charming. Flowers everywhere, interesting cottage type architecture, beautiful ocean views, clean and quiet neighborhoods. Plan to return! Loved sitting on the balcony of Margaritaville: excellent food, superb views, and friendly and efficient staff. Recommend visiting Gayles, a world-class bakery, deli, and coffee shop. Short walk up the hill. Worth it to walk down the pier and watch the larger sea creatures. Check out the flip-flop shop “Slap Happy.” Must have lunch on the patio at the restaurant Shadowbrook.” A charming, multi-level restaurant perched on the river bank, accessible by funicular or stairs, with water features and gorgeous plants.PamelaUnited States of America - 10Scored 10

We, and my sisters and cousin, are very familiar with Capitola and have stayed in other hotels/rentals. We love the town. I did feel that the description of the room was misleading; it indicated that our room would be oceanview, but one of us had stayed in the same room before and told us that it actually faced the street. That should be clarified. It turned out to be fine anyway, but others might have been quite unhappy with the location. I forgot to mention that the only negative to the room was an odd smell when we entered - possibly mold, or maybe an unusual cleaning product? It was better after a few minutes and we would still stay there again.

I also only drink decaf, they only had herbal tea 1 day. We were able to take a short walk to Peets, Whole Foods and CVS. Through that parking lot at the back of CVS you can access a path along the creek to the warf. It's a bit over 2 miles RT. It wS also close to freeway, and 41st street. The pool is smallish, but large enough. It’s a 15 minute drive into the centre of Santa Cruz. Restaurants and supermarkets are a 5 minute drive.
