The hotel in the people were very nice. I couldn't have expected more
Stanton has a real down town. Not just for visitors but also for its residents to shop, dine and enjoy. So the merchants offer more than mementos and gift items. PLUS it has the only replica of Shakespeare's Black Friars Theathe at the American Shakespeare Center. That alone Stanton put its mark on the planet.

Did not give us the room we booked because they did not state that they had specific pet friendly rooms nor did they have us down as having a pet though i stated it in the reservation. Room was dusty and bathroom floor dirty. AC/heat unit noisy. And be warned there are freight train tracks about 20yards off the back od the hotel, so we had 2 trains go by during the early morning hours, 1:30am and around 3am that provided about 5 minutes of rumbling and shaking each. Not a recommended hotel for tired travelers

There are so many cute and wonderful stores. Could use more restaurants but plenty of coffee shops. Several museums and theatres (movies and live acting). I am especially interested in going back to the Shakespeare Theatre, and President Wilson's home/library.

The hotel rate is competitive enough against the competition. the breakfast is good enough bagels with Cream cheese, boiled eggs, omelette, cereals, muffins , etc we enjoyed walking at t e historic district. We wanted a weekend getaway with history, and small-town 'Hallmark' charm. Staunton was perfect in every way. Easily walkable, beautiful downtown area, rich in history & haunted tales, with many unique small businesses to support & explore. We visited 2 great parks, & ate at The Clocktower Restaurant, and ventured to numerous breweries and wine tasting rooms. Our only complaint was that there are not many restaurants that are open past 9 pm, so any kind of "nightlife," bar, or later dinner is not an option.
Outstanding hotel that far exceeded our expectations. The room was large, the bed incredibly comfortable and the bathroom very large and nicely appointed. We loved the location and being able to walk everywhere! It's only about 1.5 blocks from the Woodrow Wilson Library and Museum. Staunton was a gem to discover and this hotel was the perfect place to spend the night. We had only planned to stay one night, but loved the hotel so much decided to stay an extra night!
This was our first visit to Staunton and we stayed there on our drive to Florida. The staff was courteous, friendly and gave us suggestions for what to do for our one night in town. The room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. Bedding was high quality, too. We liked that the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Hotels. We would definitely stay there again.
The hotel was easily accessible from the interstate. It was fun to walk in and find a Big Foot Convention taking place. We bought a couple t-shirts for family. The golf course made the hotel seem more resort like. The staff were pleasant. The hotel isn’t far from downtown Staunton, which is great to walk around with various eateries and shops.
The hotel cleaned daily without request as some hotels now do. The free breakfast was great. Location was a close drive into downtown. There was an employee named Tanya who went above and beyond for us as guests. She was so friendly and wonderful, she really made the stay amazing with her amazing customer service.
Really like the Mary Baldwin University was a couple of block from the Howard Johnson Hotel….Restaurants were at walking distance….Hotel was very clean, as well as the bed being very comfortable….. definitely will stay again when visiting Staunton, Virginia
The rooms are huge. It is the second time we’re staying at a red roof inn, and both times we have had an amazing amount of space in a comfortable room. Nice outdoor area where people had barbecues. It felt more homey than most hotels.
Loved the historical perspective of the hotel. The renovations retained the charm. The staff was very helpful. The parking was in the city garage but there was an elevator that went to the lobby so it was very convenient.
Really nice place for a stop off in Staunton. Lovely staff, lots of character and comfortable clean room. Good value compared to some other places we stayed and nice areas to sit outside in the sun. Walkable to the town
The hotel is on a main road so it is easy to find but there is no noise from the road once you are in the hotel. Ample parking. Friendly staff. A good hotel to stay at while visiting the area. I would stay again.
Brand new hotel. Everything very clean and modern. Located in very peaceful area surrounded by forests and deer. Window shades excellent at keeping room dark. Was very uncrowded hotel and lobby when I stayed.
This was by far best hotel on my trip
really quiet and comfortable best Location kind stuff comfortable bed great pool rich breakfast
