I stayed at the New Haven Hotel while visiting New Haven for a one night business trip. The property is centrally located and the entire hotel seems to have undergone a recent renovation. So, the lobby, rooms, bedding, etc. give the impression of a high quality, 4-star hotel.
Unfortunately, the hotel fell short on service. My room charges were to be directly billed to my client and the hotel did not have any record of this at check-in. Fortunately, the front desk agent during check-out quickly found the billing instructions and reversed the charges on my credit card. However, it is disappointing that a hotel that has the appearance of an upscale property, and is servicing guests of large institutions such as Yale couldn't get something as simple as billing for a corporate client correct. Upon reading some of the other reviews on TripAdvisor, it seems like the hotel has a consistent issue with its reservations system.
Beyond the above, I would recommend this property to anyone seeking reasonably priced accommodations in the heart of New Haven. « less

Attended a show in New Haven. Stayed one night at the New Haven Hotel. The hotel was well kept, and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel also has a nice wine and cheese guest reception late afternoon which was a plus. Some fantastic restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel is convenient to most downtown attractions. Would definitely stay there again. « less

Arrived at the hotel late morning with booking in hand. We were told our room wasn't yet available but that we should come back later. We were not able to get back to the hotel in the afternoon so called to confirm that we would be a late check-in. Then, when we arrived, we were told that despite having a guaranteed reservation - and despite having contacted the hotel twice to confirm that we were in town and ready for a room - our room was given away, and we were directed elsewhere. I would not trust them ever again. « less

A refreshing change to the typical chain hotel when staying on business. I was told that the hotel had recently had a renovation and it certainly showed, all the room finishes looked very updated and bedding seemed to brand new. I actually moved out of the first room due to a heating/ac noise issue- but the front desk moved me right away to another room that was fine. My only complaint would be that in mid week the hotel seemed desolate, at times I felt I was the only one there- but a very quiet hotel is better than the opposite:) I did not get a chance to eat in the hotel due to meeting schedule, but they do have a convenient mini store behind the front desk. Easy to stock up water, energy bars etc before you go out. Overall a very pleasant stay. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"Everything went smoothly and we got such a great rate that nearly everyone in the wedding is coming up to stay the night before! That's about 40-50 people so we needed extra rooms and Serge has accomodated us with this all at the same low price." S.M. - Sacramento, CA
"Our trip to Pittsburgh, including the stay at the Days Inn, was excellent. I'm very glad I found your web site and will both be using it in the future, and recommending to colleagues. The responsiveness of the site, and its ability to find us lodging even in the midst of the US Open, was wonderful. Independently, the best another teacher could do initially was secure a hotel about an hour away from downtown. She was also very pleased with our final accommodations." S.K. - Western New York
