Really wish I had read these reviews before we booked this dump but hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
Do bring earplugs......... as you will be sitting right on top of a freeway. The sound-proofing is non-existent and you can hear people using the toilet, having sex, talking/swearing from the rooms either side of you and above you.
Not a very nice place to stay (we paid up front via a web site for a 3 nights) and I wish we had paid that bit extra so that we could at least get a good nights sleep.
I won't be staying in an 'America's Best Value Inn' again if I can help it. « less

I stay at this hotel at least 2-3 times per month when I am in town on business. The rooms are always clean and tidy. The staff in the lobby are always courteous and helpful. I really like the free wi-fi internet at this hotel because it's is pretty fast and I like to watch netflix while I'm here. Breakfast is simple but adequate.
I recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to be in Salinas and needs an affordable place to stay that isn't sketchy like some of the other cheap places in town. « less

When we arrived at Americas Best Value Inn Salinas and entered our room a whiff of pot filled our noses. The service changed our room quickly. In our new room the comforters were dirty and under the bed was filthy. The towels were rough and small. Breakfast was poor, there was no seating so we had to carry our food to our room. The options were OJ and milk, two cereals with unripe bananas, cheap pastries, and two flavors of yogurt. The mini refrigerator is located under the counter so you can forget about convenience. The food was in the main office and the guy at the front desk watched us like an uneasy security guard as we took some food. The service was quick, but unfriendly in every way. « less

Management response from george patel, Front Office Manager
Dear Guest,
I sincerely apologize for the noise disturbance you experienced on your recent stay with us.
We accommodate many guests each evening, and the principal goal of our hotel is to provide dependable service to each at a reasonable price. Consequently, it is disappointing to learn that you are unhappy.
We do not condone disturbances that to our guests can be otherwise avoided, such as requesting an offending party to keep noise levels within appropriate means. Unfortunately, with your experience, and other guests’ personal business, this is not something ultimately in our control.
However, we want you to know that the comments and suggestions we receive from our guests are taken seriously. They tell us what we’re doing right, what we’re doing wrong and how we can improve. Your willingness to share your experience is genuinely appreciated.
