My wife and I have just returned from a 10 night stay here. The only downside was the frequent rain, which the hotel cannot be held accountable for. The location was superb for shopping, being in Holetown, but it was quite at all times. The hotel was very clean and the food excellent. Apart from the odd exception the staff were delightful and couldn't do enough for you. On one occasion I struck up a conversation with the head gardener, who then proceeded to give me a guided tour and tell me all about the plants and shrubs ...brilliant! I just hope that during the planned refurbishment the place it not altered too much as it has that wonderful colonial feel about it. Finally, for all those who love to snorkel there are reefs just a short walk both north and south of the hotel. « less

My wife and I have just returned from Discovery bay barbados. We have had an excelent time that we will remember for a very long time. The staff are friendly and helpful and have made us feel like family. The food was very good and the rooms are clean and adequate for holidays. The garden are very well kept and look great. The beach at St james is beautiful. We were sad to leave, and would definitely return to this hotel. « less

My partner and I have just returned from a 10 night holiday at Discovery Bay. We had a wonderful time. Contrary to earlier negative reviews we found the hotel and it's staff to be a wonderful place to stay. The staff work really hard and nothing is too much for them, they are very friendly, courteous and helpful and the food is extremely good. We had intended to go out for a couple of meals before we arrived but the food at the hotel was so good we didn't need to. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment at the end of May and I would be very surprised if it wasn't given a four star rating. Well Done Discovery Bay and thank you for a most enjoyable stay. « less

Not worth going all inclusive as you're in the heart of restaurants and bars. Not worth paying extra for sea view, as hotel is on the beach, spend the saved cash for water sports! Staff were amazing, couldn't fault them.may not be Sandy Lane! But you get what you pay for. Would definitely go back there. Special thanks to Shakira! « less

Just absolutely disgraceful.....place have no ambiance, poor decor, little activity. No guest services, empty desk, all morning and throughout the day. Spoke to the lady in charge of the desk Shirley,I think was her name. She seem like she was in a rush and could offer no real assistance and told me to speak with Ms. Ifill. We were only querying about activities for the guests to partake in. The front desk staff scorn you and don't want to take your towels instead the drag a basket for you to put them in, in exchange for fresh ones. The staff not bad, but need leadership, new lady there, new we were told, but seem clueless, not very interactive, like checking to see if we were alright and general chit chat.
The room basic, tired, run down. But the place can be nicer, a bit smelly in the walkway and bathrooms. We also had a number of maintenance issues in our room, leaks, broken door, phone not working, low water pressure etc...was endless.
Overall not worth it....lots of English visitors who said they would be seeking refunds, including our family. The pictures advertised are not the same as in person. Fault advertising to lure you to this property. The owners and Management ought to be ashamed. « less
