The check in was pleasant and the front desk was very helpful. There were people running around like they lived in the hotel and were just there to hang out. I had to ride the elevator with two gentlemen that were very forward and rude. I immediately didnt feel safe. I was constantly worried about my car parked outside. As I tried to get comfortable in the bed with the smallest hotel pillows I've ever seen, a random man knocked on my door. The chair was beyond disgusting. I didnt put any of my things on any surface in the room. I balanced everything on my suitcase. It looks like the bathroom was started to be updated. Thank god there are two locks on the door. I felt so safe I wanted to check out and get a refund but I was too scared to even leave my room. For $100/night I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this hotel overall. « less

Hotel is in bad need of a good cleaning. Both chairs in my room have sheets on them because of stains, shower rod is falling down.

If you need an affordable place to stay in the Newport News area this is a great choice. The room was clean and comfortable. Kids had a good time at the indoor pool. The free breakfast was decent. It was about 15 or so minutes drive to Busch Gardens. I left some items in the room and the hotel shipped them to my home which was above and beyond expected service. « less

I stayed here over the weekend with my daughter's school. The school initially located the hotel and when I heard the price I was suspect about how nice the place could be. To my surprise the hotel was actually very nice. Upon arrival we were greeted by Ed. He explained the amenities the hotel offers (pool, small fitness room and breakfast every morning). He also provided information on the various restaurant options in the area. The check in process went smoothly and didn't take long. Ed explained the room type the website allowed me to reserve was actually unavailable; however, we were upgraded to a premium king suite with a sleeper sofa.
Upon arrival to our room it smelled fresh and everything was clean. The sleeper sofa had a few small spots on the actually sofa pillows but nothing out of the norm. The room was a nice size and the flat screen tv was perfect and offered a nice range of channels.
The bathroom was clean and appeared to be recently renovated. The shower on the other hand appeared to be outdated. It was a walk in shower but the wall enclosure showed signs of wear and tear. The pool was a nice temperature and was clean. The fitness room was small but the perfect size relevant to the size of the hotel.
There are a number of restaurants, stores, gas stations and a movie theatre within 5 minutes of the hotel. The hotel is also located 2 minutes off of I-64 but not close enough where you hear traffic.
I would definitely stay here again during my next visit to the area. « less
