Beware this hotel has pub in the same building. It gets very noisy in the evening especially on Fridays. Shouts and music are heard late at night and you will hardly be able to sleep well. More to this the only entrance to the hotel goes through crowd of drunk young fellows dancing and shouting. I saw one dancing on the table right in front of the entrance. Thankfully they are not agressive but your way will not be pleasant. The room was OK but to take shower in the evening I had to clean the drain in the bathroom from hair wad myself as the water did not go down at all. The hotel does not have PC with a printer to print your boarding pass if needed. You have to do it via reception which was OK. « less

Hi Georgy C,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate all the feedback we receive from our guests.
I am sorry to hear you were disturbed by the noise from the bar beside us. Due to our central location some rooms can be affected by noise, as stated on our website, but quiet rooms can be requested and we do move guests whenever possible.
Thank you for bringing the issue with your shower to my attention, I am disappointed to hear of this, and have brought it up with my Housekeeping Team. As a result of this all bathrooms are undergoing an additional deep clean this week, and I will be checking to ensure it has been completed to the correct standard.
The hotel is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, and I do hope you will return to see the changes taking place.
Best Wishes,
Rachel Duff General Manager

Stayed for the long May day weekend & got a really good deal at this hotel compared to some of the others. The location was perfect for what we were looking (is very central to some great restaurants, clubs, etc) and is a short stroll to where the Airport bus link is situated making for easy and cheap transfers. The staff are all very friendly and we had a lovely receptionist that assisted us with some top attractions to see and was genuinely very helpful. The one thing we were not aware of was the noise, being in a room directly above the courtyard I'd be lying if I said our sleep was not disrupted but this was partly due to the window that did not want to close.. Room was clean and tidy so could not complain in that department. All in all a great weekend, but the noise could definitely turn some people off. « less

Hi Finleigh,
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review about your recent stay with us!
I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, our fantastic central location and found the hotel to be great value for money. Thank you for your kind words regarding our reception team, and I have passed on your praise to them directly.
Unfortunately, due to our central location, some rooms can be adversely affected by noise and quieter rooms can be requested at the time of booking.
As I am sure you noticed, we are undergoing a full refurbishment of the hotel and do hope you will return again to see these exciting changes.
Best Wishes,

Stayed overnight here with my partner. Was slightly alarmed on arrival as I realised the hotel was attached to a pub with very loud music. Customer service was second to none however really lovely people working here. The room overall was nice and clean. One worry I had was that a socket was hanging off the wall and the electrical safety sticker advised it was due to be tested in 2010! Noisy until around 0200 however I understand it is a city centre hotel and it didn't bother me too much. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast is served in the bar attached to the hotel, very good quality Scottish breakfast however not so pleasant was the aroma of a typical bar toilet. Despite the couple of negative points I would probably stay here again « less

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, dirty, TV didn't work, half the bulbs out, mould all round the bath, shower so powerful that it was unusable. The carpets were sodden with drink and other things I don't want to think about. Reported TV they said they would sort , but did nothing. I contemplated getting train home again it was so bad. Very Noisy also which I could have lived with if room clean and not like it was about to be demolished « less

At Central Hotel we always aim to offer the best service and value for money and are very sorry that this wasn’t the experience you received during your time with us. I am particularly sorry to hear of the cleanliness of your room, it is unacceptable, and I have brought this up with my housekeeping team.
We are currently undergoing a full refurbishment of the hotel, and I hope you will return again to give us a second chance and to experience these changes.

I stayed here last month as I was going to see the Rocky Horror Show at the Playhouse & it was a fab wee hotel. We never got much time here as we had a problem finding parking - Edinburgh is a nightmare! We parked at the Radisson, about a 5 minute walk and it was £19 for 24 hours parking. I think there is cheaper in conjunction with the hotel but we ran short of time. The hotel has a great courtyard which I can only imagine is great when it is busy! The receptionist was really helpful in organising a taxi for us and made our check in as hassle free as possible. The room was the furthest away room in the hotel which wasn't ideal in our situation but it was ok, 2 comfy beds and a massive bathroom! All in all I would return here & I would recommend it as a good base for a night out in the Capital. « less

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review about your stay with us! We know that parking is difficult here in Edinburgh, and we suggest that our guests use the secure 24 hour NCP carpark nearby.
I have passed on your kind words to the Reception Team, and I am happy to hear that they were so helpful during your stay.
Hope to see you again soon!
