Centrally located, and close to the main train station, Holiday Inn Express Marseille, delivers. No fuss property, quick check in, clean, not spacious but efficient room, windows open which is a great plus. Stay includes breakfast, which makes it more attractive, also has a outdoor sitting/eating area. Rooms on the higher floor have nice view, but since we wanted a smoking room so had to forgo that- Smoking rooms only on the lower floor. Pros: Good budget accommodation inclusive of breakfast, with parking facility! Cons: None, perhaps just a room with a view! Overall, a VFM place, you won't remember you stayed at six months down the line for either good or bad! « less

This is perfect if you are a single person staying 1 night for a business meeting or a couple catching a train. There is not a lot around the hotel except for pizza or takeaway places. There is also a grocery store next door to stock up on water, snacks, etc.. I stayed here 4 nights with my 2 young children and found the room to be very basic. Our room was considered a triple but it was small with a full size bed and a single fold-away bed taking up the whole room. There is no actual closet or drawers, just a wall unit with hangers. I think this is standard for the Holiday Inn Express. During the day, the room would get very warm and this was in mid -May. The air conditioner was non-existent. You can only open the window a crack so there was no air circulating. Request a room not facing south. Breakfast is included which is convenient but don't expect too much. The croissants looked very flat and sad, the cheeses, cold cuts, and juices very industrial quality. « less

Dear parisfornia, Many thanks for sharing your experience with us. we are sorry to discover that our hotel did not fulfill all your expectations First of all, you are true the size of the closet is an Holiday Inn Express' standard. Then, I inform you that the A/C system has been put in service last Monday. We take good note of your comments regarding our breakfast. Best Regards,

I had quite a bad experience at Holiday Inn Marseille. I had booked a double bed room (for 4) on IHG priority club, and I added in the special comment section that we needed an extra baby bed for a 6 months old baby. This is not an uncommon request and it has always worked for us in the past. When we showed up in the lobby we were told that it was impossible to had the baby bed and we were "kindly" offered to book a second 100€ room... basically for our 6 month old alone. The hotel manager was very obnouxious and made no effort whatsoever in helping us find an appropriate solution. We ended up finding a family room at Quality Inn price of one Holdiay Inn room so we cancelled cancelled our initial reservation. Quality Inn ended up being much more appropriate for us as it is 3 min walk from vieux-port which is the Central point of the city. One ought to know that the Holiday Inn Saint-Charles in not in a very attractive part of town. Unless you have an early train or work in that area at don't see much reason to select this location. « less

Dear Pierre L, We are sorry to learn that you had a bad experienced with us. We inform you that for security purpose the maximum capacity in room is limited to 4 people. We can't circumvent the law. My colleague did his best to help you to find the best solution. Once again we do apologize for this misunderstanding. Best Regards,

The hotel is very conveniently situated opposite the railway and bus station and so is perfecxtly placed for day trips exporing he nearby towns of Arles and Aix en Provence - both well worth visiting. The hotel is modern and exceptionally clean and very welcoming providing a good cold buffet breakfast There is a small bar and they do some food - but having tried the food twice its not great. There are other options jstacross the road in the station where all the usual fast food suppliers are situated. The staff were lovely all willing to please. Our room was exactly what we expected from a Holday Inn Express - we were on the 7th floor and it was extremely quiet given its position on a busy road by the station.I wasa little diappointed not to have been offered an upgrade through my loyalty scheme. The surrounding area isnt great but stick to the main roads and you wll be absolutely fine - it is however a good 20 minutes walk downhill to the marina which inevitably means a long uphill walk going back. There is a nicely furnishd terrace at the hotel but the view is the back of some ather shabby buildings - it needs a bit of landscaping and its a pity there isnt a terrace on a higher floor to make the most of the views over Marseilles. « less

Dear Barbara H,
Many thanks for having taken the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to read that you have spent a nice stay with us. Regarding your upgrade, we do our best to reward our customer loyalty but when we are fully booked it is complicated. We are sorry that you did not liked our light meal service. We will do our best to improve this service for your next stay. At the moment, the view from the terrace is not amazing because the are building an university library...But it will be better very soon.
