The Pitcher Inn story begins in the Civil War era as a lodging house, where travelers traversing three mountain passes would stop to rest. The Pitcher Inn was reimagined in 1997 from the ground up by Maggie and Heather Smith and Heather's father Win Smith. The Smiths were determined that The Pitcher Inn would entertain and inspire, extending a feeling of joy, hospitality and welcome from Vermont to the world. We invite you to stay in one of our luxury suites or guest rooms and join us for an intimate fine dining experience. The Pitcher Inn has been a Relais & Châteaux member since 1997.

Local Shuttle Info: Get around the Mad River Valley on the GMT Bus, our FREE winter-seasonal bus service, operated by Green Mountain Transit. Daily service begins on Dec. 23 and runs through April 1, 2018. Valley Evening Service will begin running on Saturdays and select Sundays from 6pm-2am by request beginning on Dec. 30. Hop on the Bus at any of the designated bus stops, or simply stand in a safe location along any route, and flag the driver down!
