The location is perfect. Very close to all monuments and the main street with many restaurants and shops. You don't need a car. The hotel is good, small and comfortable rooms. The only problem for me was the cleaner ladies in the aisle. They woke me up early all days that I stayed there. In the first day they opened my door and second day they talked a lot in in front my door. Unacceptable behavior for employees from a five star hotel. But although these incidents, the hotel is a good option for this city. « less

This hotel offers the best of Strasbourg steps from its door. Upon arrival, I was given an upgraded room with a small sitting area; something to celebrate in Europe! Like other Sofitel hotels I've stayed at, it was modern, clean and well maintained. It's staff however made this hotel special. The valet was always prompt with my car, and the concierge was always helpful and got us into one of the better French restaurants on a busy Saturday night. This hotel made it easy to explore and have fun in this charming city. « less

Amazing location two steps away from Kléber. Amazing staff. Maybe the rooms were not big enough for our expectations when coming to a hotel of this category, especially a Sofitel. but nice, modern, new and spotless. All in all, I will surely be back but probably ask for a superior room. « less

Recently spent three nights at the Sofitel Strasbourg.
Arrived a bit early and had to wait until 2:30 pm before obtaining room key. Room was efficient. As others have said, the room could be considered small. Entrance hall had closets on one side and bathroom on the other. Closet has a light inside and that is a nice touch. Half of the closet was for hanging clothes and the other had shelves. No drawers for your items in the room - just shelves. On the shelves there is a safe and a number of other items from a shoe tree, a hair dryer, slippers, and bags for shoes/laundry.
The bathroom was also small but efficient. Contemporary sink with several places for your items. Good lighted shaving/makeup mirror that can double as a nightlight. Deep tub doubles as your shower. Towels were oversized and soft - bath, hand and face towels included. The room was equipped with cotton swabs, cotton pads, shower cap and emery boards. The Hermes toiletries smelled great and were a nice touch.
The main room contained a desk, a bed with two side tables, and a small table in front of the window. Surprised that there wasn't a kettle for coffee/tea. The desk also contained a small fridge with a few basic beverages such as water, Coke, juice. Later I did find the price list but initially wondered if these items were free. At about 5 euros apeice, they definitely were not free. No snacks in the fridge.
The bed was very comfortable and the bedding devine. Various options for lighting included lamps and reading lights. Complimentary bottles of Evian water were on the nightstands. A second door allows you to block out noises from the bathroom while in the bedroom.
The hotel conducts turndown service where a mat and slippers are placed next to the bed. The Bose system was set to a lovely channel and the sound was great. I did have to adjust the time on the clock.
A flat panel TV was mounted on the wall. I found a few English cannels including CNN and BBC. If the TV had a sleep function, I could not find a way to make it work.
Service was very good but not perfect. Simple questions seemed at times to stump the staff. When I asked about a voltage converter, I was told they only had one and another guest already had it. The room contained absolutely no outlets for 110v USA plugs. For a 5 star hotel, I found this surprising.
Since it was raining, I appreciated the umbrellas provided by the hotel.
My biggest complaint was that the air conditioning did not work. My room was too warm for most of my stay. I had to sleep with the window open and that barely kept the room cool enough for sleeping. To me, this is a major flaw for a 5 star hotel.
Breakfast buffet was definintely above average.
Others have mentioned this, but the location is great. Most of the sights in Strasbourg are within walking distance.
As a Platinum member of Accor's Le Club, I was surprised that an upgrade was unavailable. Friends who are not even members of Le Club were given an upgrade. Their room was larger and contained extras such as a kettle for coffee/teas as well as a bed-side power outlet. I did receive a free drink in the lounge but I was not able to use it during my stay.
The hotel appeare to be remodeling rooms in one wing on the third through fifth floors.
For comfort, friendliness, location, and a good breakfast I can recommend this hotel. If they would equip all rooms with kettles and ensure that the air conditioner was working, a guest's stay would be enhanced and the hotel could better justify their 5 star rating. « less

This 5 star hotel is located in downtown Strasbourg, an ideal location when you want to visit the city center.
Pro's: - ideal location - free parking in hotel's own parking garage (with valet service), at least we did not have to pay for it when checking out. - wonderful bed with big pillows and sft matress for a perfect night's sleep - modern bathroom with all amenities. - free Wifi in the room - nice buffet breakfast with service at your table and more than enough choice in food - well trained staff, who will attend to your needs
Cons: - for a 5 star hotel the rooms are rather small - no walk in shower, have to stand in the bath tub to take a shower - hotel restaurant was closed when we arrived (on a sunday)
All in all this is a good hotel to stay in, the smallish rooms mgiht make you want to stay somewhere else. « less
