My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and heard this was a fun place to stay. When we arrived we had a little trouble parking. There was no space in the parking out front...and there were a lot of people walking around. We were directed underneath into a creepy parking structure--There was no room and had to park on street. When we got in we had to wait a couple minutes to check in but (usually this would be a bad thing) but "Annie" and "Benjamin" made the wait well worth it!-It was the most entertaining check in my wife and I have ever experienced. The best way to heal a wound is with laughter...and they did just that! Room was nice, i dont know when it was renovated last but there was A LOT of dust. Fox and hounds was definitely an experience. Restaurants on the site were great...but very busy. The Farmers Market had great sandwiches and we were surprised to find the same desk employee working there the next day! Weather was ok and the hotel was smack in the middle of clayton-So there are St. louis' best attractions near by. If you are visiting this is hands down the perfect place to stay. The Cheshire's great service will overshadow the few disappointments we had. We will recommend that all our friends celebrate at this hotel. « less

We stayed at the Cheshire for two nights while in STL. Upon checking in there was an issue with getting our Hotels.com reservation and had to wait about 1-20 minutes until they finally got us checked in. Upon entering our room we got settled in and realized that someone had used the bathroom before us.....being that it was past midnight and it took 20 minutes to get our room, we let it go. The next morning we went to shower and realized, there's no shampoo here, luckily we had some from the Westin so we moved on. The next morning we were checking out and I went downstairs to get some change for the bellman, I went to the front desk and they only had 20's, so she told me to go to the bar and I approached the bar tender and said, excuse me could I have change for a 20? He said go to the front desk! I said I already had and she told me you would have some change, without even looking he said, I don't have any and walked away. I was a bit shocked but decided that if thebellman didn't have change I would walk throught he rain to the gas station so I could tip him since the hotel didn't have change and the bartender didn't care. Once the bellman got downstairs with our luggage he couldn't pull in front of the hotel directly because an employee had left his car under the awning so he didn't have to be in the rain, it's fine for the guests to get wet though huh? We had some of the same issue's other guests did, Housekeeping and service. Once we finally got downstairs there was no one to talk to at the front desks so we could discuss our issues, the service needs to improve. « less

I highly recommend the Cheshire in St. Louis. Service was terrific, rooms were roomy and immaculate. The continental breakfast was spot on. Although it poured the weekend we were there, the patio is large and comfy. We met friends for drinks - we had ample room and quiet in the lounge. It is a fun boutique hotel; every room is named after a famous British person. The food in the Fox & Hound bar was terrific - wings were just right and not dripping everywhere. My drink was made well. We had breakfast one morning in the restaurant and it was excellent. There is a fun Market for lunch and the Basso Bar looked really cool. It is right by the highway. It is a wonderfully remodeled hotel. JK « less

I recently got a room for a couple nights via Priceline at the Cheshire. The hotel was redone a couple years ago, so the rooms are nice and updated. The original Tudor exterior and old English lobby were retained and adds to the charm. For the size of the hotel they have ton of dining options. I heard the new restaurant Basso is really good (I heard it is owned by the Bommaritos), brunch at their restaurant seemed crowded on Sunday when I arrived, there's the Fox and Hounds pub in the lobby and I'm sorry I didn't get to try out the cute market place that had some nice looking salads, soups and sandwiches. I had a room on the first floor just off the lobby and I have to say the noise was somewhat of an issue; people in the lobby, slamming room doors, the loud HVAC turning on and off. I thought there would be more street noise, but that was the least of it. The room itself was nice and redone, the beds were comfy and lots of channels on the cable service. My issue was the cleanliness in general; there were a few stray hairs on the tile floor from the previous guest, and the bathtub drain was older and corroded and the room needed a good dusting. Location is very good with easy access (driving) to Clayton, Downtown and Forest Park. Overall above average, enjoyed my time there and it just needs a little fine tuning. « less

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on your recent stay at The Cheshire! With the newly established venues added to the property, we are very glad you took the time to explore. The Cheshire holds a deep history here in St. Louis, with many great 'antiques' decorated throughout the hotel which holds very interesting stories.
We are are happy you enjoyed our new renovated rooms, however, with the minor set-backs of noise and housekeeping, our staff would be more than happy to come up with a solution to help make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our location cannot be beat as we are located in the center of St. Louis. As the season gets warmer, Forest Park, across the street, will be the perfect destination to enjoy your summer days.
We look forward to your return.
Sincerely, The Cheshire Team
