Quality Hotel Plaza Dresden is a mid-range chain hotel in a fairly accessible location in northern Dresden, with well-rounded quality and fairly good value expected from the Quality Inn brand. The Choice Hotel group, to which the brand belongs, is known for granting franchises to lodgings of widely varying quality, but this one seems to be above-average among the stock. Overall a 3.5 out 5 points in TripAdvisor scale. Were it not for the fact that it is in Dresden, where rates are very competitive even among prime properties, I might have given it 4 points.
This hotel is located in northern Neustadt (newer city center) of Dresden, within a few minutes of walk to Stauffenbergallee tram station. Four tram-stops south of this station, on either line 7 or 8, leads to Albertplatz, a focal point of Neustadt as well as a major tram hub. You can keep riding on tram line 8 for a few more stops to reach the famous Altstadt (old city center) across the Elbe River, or stick to line 7 for Dresden Hauptbahnhof (main train station). A fair base for sightseeing, though with more centrally-located alternatives you may not need trams at all, since most sights of interest lie in a compact area. From the Dresden Airport (DRS), you can take the S-Bahn (suburban railway), get off at the Dresden Industriegelände station, then walk for around 1 Km or take the tram. The immediate neighborhood of the hotel looks a bit dilapidated, with a deserted large building full of graffiti right next door and a Chinese-run casino nearby, but is safe and pretty quiet.
The hotel rooms are quite spacious and clean, equipped with a flat-panel TV, a built-in closet, and other standard amenities. Beds were clean, though the mattresses had a bit of slept-in feeling. My room was warm enough, but the ventilation fan made constant screeching sound so I had to turn the heat off. The sound was so loud and conspicuous that I have to wonder why the housekeeping staff had not noticed it or fixed it. Bathroom is clean and functional, supplied with liquid soap and shampoo.
The hotel comes with free WiFi, though you have to ask for it to receive an account and a password. The front desk staff was efficient but a bit mechanical. Upon check-in, all my colleagues asked for WiFi, and yet at my turn she didn’t ask if I also needed WiFi. The breakfast is what to be expected from the chain, but the lunch was surprisingly good.
In summary, the Quality Hotel Plaza Dresden is a dependable, solid mid-range chain hotel in a fairly convenient location. Even though there may often be better combinations of rate + location elsewhere in this city, the price still is in competitive range and worth looking at. A safe, above-average choice. « less

I had 4 nights in this hotel for a conference at the ICC, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The room was nice, clean, and functional, and great value too at around 79 Euro, although in my rate breakfast was not included and was a bit expensive at 15 Euro. Nice bathroom with an excellent shower.The hotel itself is next to the railway and close to the S Bahn station from the airport. On the other side is a main road. My first instinct was that it would be noisy, but good sound insulation and air conditioning meant it was quite OK. No WiFi except in the lobby, but you could rent a cable from reception. If you have your own cable then broadband is free (as it should be these days). A Mongolian BBQ, Sushi and Italian restaurant are just a 5 minute walk away and it is about 15 minutes to the old centre. A functional, modern hotel in a good location. « less

it's a bad value ... in a city filled with arts and beauty, the hotel is far from beautiful and far from the city center; it's even far from a suburban center ... in a dodgy location, loaded with stars for reasons not at all apparent ... I would have been comfortable paying 50% what I paid ... IF the entire area all the way to Hellerau builds into an arts/performance oasis, then the hotel's location would make sense ... but that's years away, and why pay big bucks now for someplace that's not great. « less

I was in Dresden on business and very delighted to be placed at the Park Plaza. The service was excellent, staff very friendly, rooms extremely clean and the breakfast splendid. I enjoyed my time in Dresden. Although I was there on business, I had a great time out in the evenings. The hotel is conveniently close to the Neustadt (10 mins by tram) .Also, it is rather close to the airport which was perfect for me. The hotel has all the facilities one needs for a city trip and offers free WiFi in the public areas. If you have a few days, try for an extended weekend, the sightseeing is worth it and I shall return for it soon. Definitely staying at the Park Plaza again!! « less
