needed somewhere quick and easy to stay near john radcliffe hospital, as soon as i got there i wanted to leave but just needed a bed quickly, the man was very strange and made me feel uncomfortable and the awful smell just hits you when you walk in. Our room was terrible old toilet with black tank and pull chain which didnt work, bed was old and stale and woke up with bed bites on legs. The place was full of strange men didnt feel safe atal, didnt stay for breakfast couldnt wait to get out as fast as i could. « less

It's very advisable to listen to all the reviews you've read about this place and spend more money for a better place. However if you have no expectation (at all!) and don't care about hospitality it should be one of your choices then. Asked if I'll recommend or revisit, I would politely say: "Never!" « less

Just returned from a 2 night stay, as I was attending a course. Upon arrival the guy who checked us in was particularly unpleasant and almost shifty. The room was basic, very basic. However it seemed the bathroom had been recently refurbished (room number 1) that said - the shower had only 2 settings. Hot or Cold.
When smoking outside there were various suspicious people loitering but had access to the hotel.
I don't want my review not to be publish but I urge anyone to search the Internet for Nanford Court Case as there have been reports of disturbing goings on in this guest house.
I would also urge no-one to stay alone, it was not a safe, friendly environment.
Furthermore... Avoid the dining room, it smells of urine! « less

Booked here as a last minute Internet reservation. Looked fine on the outside..until we got in.
The man greeted us without so much of a "hello". The reception area... The smell of stale oil & stale urine was apparent.
The room-mouldy, disgusting. Tiny room with 2 beds crammed in. The lock didn't work and when I questioned it I got "play with it for a while I'm sure you can get it working". The bathroom was as small as a cupboard with a toilet and tiny shower but no room to get in & close the door.
The "carpark"- a tiny area of wasteland. Very narrow to drive in. Have to drive over pieces of wood to get in. All cars crammed in and noone able to get out until morning-you can't even move your car.
By this time we had enough. We could not stay in a room as foul and disgusting as this-believe me we have had some lower standard places but this needs to be shut down!!
Said we weren't going to pay. Man got very angry and I thought he was going to hit us..or damage the car. He said he had our credit card details and was taking the money regardless.
I would have done anything to get out of this hell hole.
Did not feel safe, wouldn't leave my car, the smell is vile as is the place.
DO NOT STAY HERE.
THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN..ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH WOULD HAVE A FIELD DAY!!! « less

We stayed here in 1998, and have been reciting our hammer night of horror to our poor freinds ever since. We were offered a selection of rooms in the hope of finding a habitable one...we didn't. I removed the bed headboard as it had a semi-circle of black where previous occupants had endured what would become a living nightmare. Went to make a cup of tea but all the milk cartons were domed with age. Turned on the t.v expecting nosferatu on an infinite loop, but it didn't work. Breakfast was included, didn't make it that far..managed to escape at 5.30am. You'll need therapy after this. Save yourself and just don't do it. « less
