Do not waste your invaluable time with this resort. It operates as wildly as a well-oiled Carnival cruise ship.
We spent over 3 months trying to finalize our contracting terms for our wedding at the Fairmount Mayakoba. In that unfortunate span of time we were bounced around to 3 different group sales "geniuses" with each one of them telling us a different story. In order to get us to close, we were lied to and told that we could host our events on Saturday at the location of our choice. Then, in the last stage of contracting we were firmly notified that the only way we could host our event there was on a Sunday at the back lawn. To add to this unbelievable lack of professionalism, in the same breath, they told us we should be understanding of this limitation “like other east Indian couples.” I don’t pull the racism card often, but this comment is flat out not even necessary, unless you are trying to polish your Clint Eastwood impersonation skills.
Save your time and headache and move on to a property that understands service…or take the gamble with the masses here at the Fairmount fumble-koba and keep your fingers crossed that your Carnival ship makes it back home. « less

We stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba in April 2013. We found it to be very beautiful, and clean. The staff was very friendly! The concierge was most helpful with all of our requests. Transportation and tours were top notch. We highly recommend the boat tour of the property to everyone, as this was one of the highlights for the whole family (ages 4 - 69). Maritours (travel agency on premises) arranged a half day tour of Tulum with an outstanding private tour guide who was very knowledgeable, and accommodating to our family's needs. We gave this resort a 4 instead of 5 because even considering typical resort food and drink prices, we found it to be excessively expensive. The restaurants catered to a variety of "diets" (diabetic, vegetarian, macrobiotic, etc), so it was surprising that we were unable to get a dessert for our son that did not include dairy or nuts (suggestions would be popsicles, sorbet, allergen free cookies). « less

Resort is big and beautiful, with lush greenery and wildlife: iguanas, tropical birds, baby alligators, reptiles .There are several pools with enough chairs and space, The resort even if it is full it never felt crowded. The private beach is magnificent and very large. Very good for swimming.
We stayed not in casitas but in the building next to Reception. Excellent and spacious with nice oversized bathroom, tub and rain shower. Amenities like press coffee & refrigerator. The beach was 10 minutes walking thru de greenery and the lagoons or 5’ by car or bicycle Service was excellent and every staff was nice. Ever staff greeted us with a "hola" and never walked by without a smile or greeting. The carts were convenient and fast. We never waited more than 5 minutes in one place. They always ask you if you need a ride and if they're going the opposite way, they call another cart for you. The drivers are very friendly. « less

We just returned from 6 days at the Fairmont Mayakoba. The resort is beautiful, the golf course well maintained but most of all the service was exceptional! We entertained 40 costumers and everyone said they would definitely return to this resort. Much of our relaxing time was spent around the pool at the swim up pool bar. Jaun and Jeronimo could not have done more to make sure we had a great time! Their service to all costumers was extraordinary, wanting to be sure everyone was having a great time. We will be returning to this resort again! « less

love this hotel is an amazing property surrounded by natural lagoons, lots of trees and an amazing beach! food is excellent the breakfast buffet left me with my mouth wide open it is first class food, no need to go out to other restaurtants. prices are very very expensive. but love the fact that you can move around the premisses in bikes that are all along the property, by boat , by golf cart or just walking. love love the cleanness , the service and the variaty of pools. cons is that in the pool area there is no music, and it can feel a little lonely. « less
