French antique chic sits aside New Zealand’s sophisticated modern designs at this centrally located boutique hotel. Providing exceptional personal service, the hotel truly embodies the Sofitel concept ‘art de vivre’ – the art of living. The lobby and lounge flow into a resplendent reception enclave, invoking the panache of Paris and warm hospitality inherent to any Queenstown stay.
Elegantly appointed rooms and suites feature comforts such as Sofitel’s sumptuous MyBed, double spa bath and separate rain shower. Modern surround sound LCD TV/DVD players entertain in bedroom and bathroom, a pillow menu and plush New Zealand possum throws add yet another fine touch.
Hotel facilities include signature Vie Restaurant & Bar, Parisian style Left Bank Café – part French kitchen, part tea room – open for breakfast and lunch and The Cellar for private dining.
The ‘piece de resistance’ is LeSpa, a relaxing haven where mind, body and spirit unite. Using French and New Zealand products, LeSpa’s lavish treatments, which include a Traditional Maori Ritual and traditional Hammam steam room, place strong emphasis on balance, wellbeing and regeneration.

My stay at the Sofitel in Queenstown was fabulous. From the minute I arrived I felt 'looked after' and nothing was too much trouble. The room was luxurious with one of the best beds I have ever slept in. The breakfast was varied, delicious with great coffee and the staff very helpful. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Due to a busy schedule I lost my voice and as I was leaving the restaurant on the last morning the maitre d' came up to me and asked if I would like a lemon and honey tea, unfortunately I was just going to my room to collect my bags to check out so I had to say no. When I came down to check out, there he was waiting for me with the lemon and honey tea in a takeaway cup I was so amazed that he had done this for me. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture and was like the icing on the cake for my stay. Thanks to all the staff and especially to the Maitre D' for you kindness. « less

Very luxurious with a double sized spa bath and expensive toiletries. Valet parking was easy and affordable at $20/day. Hotel is well located in central Queenstown with a short walk across the road to shops and restaurants. Attached day spa is very nice. Avoided breakfast here due to reviews of cost/quality on Tripadvisor so can't comment on this. Hotel highly recommended. « less

I booked this hotel because of tripadvisor reviews and I was looking forward to my experience with great anticipation; I was quite frankly shocked and disappointed with the experience. I was there with my partner on the 15th/16th May. We checked in a little early at just before 1 pm and was told the room was not ready and check-in time was not until 2. We knew this but as the hotel was nearly empty at that time we knew they were not busy and would have a room ready. But no, we were made to wait until 2 and then they put us in a room with no view overlooking the hotel roof. Why do this when the hotel is empty. We were offered a complimentary coffee while we waited which was nice, but then when we checked out we were charged for the coffee plus someone elses meal which we hadn't ordered. They quickly amended this. We dined in the restaurant for breakfast and the food looked lovely but we opted to choose a la carte. We ordered an omelette and I ordered poached eggs on toast. The waitress asked if I just wanted poached eggs and toast and I said yes. I received a plate of poached eggs with bacon, sausages, mushrooms, spinach which all looked lovely and when the waitress brought it to me she said that the extras were all complimentary. When we paid the bill I'd been charged $22.50 for my poached eggs; I stupidly paid it because I don't normally complain but it bugged me all morning. I went back to the restaurant a couple of hours later to ask if this was the correct price for poached eggs and the same waitress who offered it complimentary said ' but you had more than eggs on your plate'. I explained that she offered them 'complimentary' and she then refunded me the difference. I have stayed at lots of 5 star hotels around the world and I have never had this level of poor service before. On a positive note, the rooms are beautiful and tastefully decorated although the man that shows you round your room at check-in is just a bit condescending. When I asked a second time how the tv in the bathroom worked he told me 'I've already told you that'. I felt like a naughty child who shouldn't ask questions! I don't normally complain about things, I usually just put up with it, but I felt so disappointed by my experience at this hotel that I felt compelled to write. The one person who I felt gave exceptional service was the girl who cleaned the room, so warm and friendly and the cleanliness of the room was faultless. « less

As always we had very high expectations when staying at the Sofitel and they are almost always met, this was no exception. We had a lovely stay with large, fully equipped rooms, impeccable and friendly service and a great location.
My own small gripe, though never experienced at other Sofitel's, was our second day of stay cleaning service was really quite poor - the bed wasn't properly made, the underlay was bunched, the throw was in a heap on the floor, the clock radio seemingly deliberately unplugged and the towels were on a heap in the bathroom - it was somewhat like they hadn't even been there at all other than the fact the room was in a completely different condition to when we'd left it. But, I suspect this is an isolated incident. My other small gripe was I think we had one of the least impressive rooms in the hotel, right next to a public walkway that cast shadows into the room and very limited views. Our travelling companions were upgraded to a suite though which was very nice.
On the plus side, the integrity and honesty of their staff was second to none again in quickly returning expensive sunglasses and electronics that I'd accidentally left behind. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when going back to Queenstown. « less
