Hotel ICON is a one-of-a-kind upscale hotel designed by celebrated architects Rocc Yim, Terence Conran, Patrick Blanc and William Lim. Breathtaking open public spaces, a striking vertical garden, a grand sweeping staircase, innovative guest rooms and three vibrant dining spaces radiate Eastern and Western contemporary style. We offer our guests traditional Asian hospitality, with all of its courteous and attentive qualities - but in a refreshingly relaxed and informal manner.

Ok so this hotel is fantastic!! Super modern edge architecture, design and technology. The market breakfasts and dinners are out if this world for variety and too not h food, buffet style. The staff were so efficient and helpful every step of the way. Despite being trainees. Infact probably because of it. The location was great also for the mtr, shopping and plenty of restaurants down along the promenade. My o ly constructive feedback woykd be we were less than impressed with the wifi - it kept dropping off. Views to die for, free mini bar well worth while although woukd be nice to see some snacks in there too ratger than just drinks. Well done hotel icon. Woukd recommend to all and sundry!! « less

Top marks for this hotel. Great service, reasonable price and the breakfast was nearly endless.
The location was very convenient for everything on the Kowloon side and getting over to the Island wasn't much trouble either.
The rooms are spacious, clean and views are great. The bar on the top floor makes decent drinks, although the liquor selection blocks the best part of the view.
Price was competitive, especially compared to the other options in area. It will certainly be on the short list for future visits to HK or recommendations to colleagues. « less
“One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at”

I booked this hotel on the strength of TripAdvisor reviews and was very very pleased that I did. Service was exceptional, but not in your face like many other 5 star hotels. It is attached to the university polytechnic and many staff are in training. It is very difficult to tell between staff and trainees, the standards are pushed very very high. (An acquaintance I spent some time with is a senior manager at the university).
Firstly, I arrived after a long flight from New Zealand which arrived at 7am. My room wasn't ready at that time (the hotel was full) however I was escorted to the 9th floor where there is the Timeless lounge. This is full of comfy chairs and ottomans to rest while they prepare your room. The gym, pool and poolbar are also on this level and staff are friendly and very happy to help (one set my computer and phone up with wifi). Best of all - the showers in the gym changing room are free to use. These consist of a giant rainforest ceiling shower, a detachable hand shower wand and SIX side jets. You can operate all eight at once for the most heavenly experience (after 12 hours flying I felt wonderful).
My room was soon ready and a staff member was dispatched to the lounge to get me (a slight delay waiting for me to get out of the shower!). I went for the cheapest Icon 36 city view room and it was divine. Lots of space, free minibar and wifi with useful and elegant toiletries. The ICON iphone app was a nice touch too. I got a free large tasty fruit platter for booking directly with the hotel as well.
I went to high tea at GREEN the same afternoon and the same high standards were kept. This is open to the public and is hugely popular, but as a hotel guest I got to skip the queue and was soon in front of 3 tiers of chocolate-ly heaven (one had edible gold leaf on it).
I know people have had reservations about this hotel being in Kowloon, but I would argue public transport in HK is ridiculously easy to use (and hotel staff are happy to help you with this). The Hung Hom subway station is five minute's walk away and can deliver you to the star ferry terminal.
I had dinner out of the hotel and breakfast in the next day (I was on a one night stay). I had five servings of the delicious breakfast buffet which then necessitated a post meal lie-down! Chinese, Japanese, Scandinavian, American and French styles were all available with a massive choice within each cuisine. Staff were efficient and very helpful once again.
The vertical garden in the lobby is a distinctive feature which adds to the great vibe of this hotel. I can't wait to come back to HK and a large part of that is the though of another stay at the ICON.
In case I haven't been clear here - you should stay at this hotel. I have travelled and stayed extensively at 5 star hotels and can be very picky. This is one of the best I've experienced. « less

The Hotel Icon is a little way from the main Kowloon hotels. It is part of the university and is used for their hotel Management courses. So at least while staff are in the Icon they perform superbly. The service and cleanliness is top quality. We had a Club room on the 25th floor, this gives access to the Above & Beyond Club lounge where breakfast and evening meals are served, there is also an open bar between 5:30 to 7:30 PM to compliment the free minibar in your room, yes! a free minibar stocked with not only the usual soft and alcoholic drinks, but also snacks.
The Club rooms have a dedicated check-in desk on the 26th floor which is fast and efficient, rooms overlook Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. Our room had a large King bed with new, clean bed linen, the decor was new, modern and fresh. The bathroom was large and well equipped, the towels were new and fluffy, as were the bathrobes.
The Red Urban taxi from the airport took 30 minutes and cost £20, Queuing at the airport taxi rank took just 2 or 3 minutes. A dispatcher will write your destination in Chinese for your taxi driver, but it's a good idea to always have directions written in Chinese as very few Chinese speak English.
The walk from the hotel to the Star ferry terminal, Nathan Street or the International Cruise port took about 10 - 15 minutes depending on the route taken, either along the Avenue of the Stars alongside the harbour or through the pretty shopping streets. Whichever route we took, whatever time of day, the streets always felt safe, there are quite a few bars with tables on the pavements or squares between the hotel and the Star ferry. A taxi cost just a few pounds. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus every 20 minutes to and from the Star Ferry terminal, the outward journey also stops at Middle Road.
TST East MRT station takes about 5 minutes to walk, the station is about half way between the hotel and the Star Ferry, Hung Hom station is about 5 minutes walk via a raised covered walkway in the other direction, this route is quite busy as it serves the main university campus.
Breakfast was first class, with a large menu of buffet or cooked choices, including the Full Enlish. « less

We wanted to try a new hotel on our most recent trip to Hong Kong, and tried Hotel Icon. We were not disappointed. We were most pleased with the service, dining options, room arrangement, harbor view, and condition of the hotel. The hotel does sit a couple of kilometers back from the harbor, while you still have a great view; you don't see all of the harbor activity. Unlike some other Hong Kong hotels the lobby is not a gathering spot. We did find the club level upgrade to be well worth the expense. We enjoyed the personalized check in and club level amenities especially the evening cocktail hours. « less

"I have been working with Samantha and she has made the process seemless and easy. Thanks for checking up. This was the first time using you for a block of rooms ~ what a great set-up you have! My days of calling individual hotels directly are over. I will be using and recommending your services again." M.R. - East Lansing, MI
