I would highly recommend the hotel if you are looking for a nicer place in Callaway. I went there with my wife and 1.5 year old daughter. Everyone had a very enjoyable weekend. EVERYONE on the staff was super friendly. We did not spend too much time at the Lodge, but it had everything we needed for the family. Breakfast buffett was reasonablly priced and good. The resort fee included internet and admission to the park for every day. The pool was nice, with two separate hot tubs, and bar food area. My wife also enjoyed the Spa and the massage. I'm have Marriott status so I received food voucher coupons for every morning. The only area for improvement were the rooms. They seemed a little outdated, but nothing shabby. There was also a very weird loud sound in the morning and I couldn't tell if it was construction, the fountain outside getting started, or something else. I think the sound issue was totally situational and nothing we complained about.
Pros: Location Very Friendly Staff Admission to Callaway Gardens is included Breakfast Buffett Restaurant Hot tubs and Pool
Cons: Rooms are a little outdated Resort Fee (not too much) « less

We redeemed points and stayed for free one night in order to view the Callaway Christmas Lights. Check-in was quick and thorough; however, when we got to our room we could not enter. We returned to the desk and they rekeyed the room and we encountered the same problem. After that, maintenance met us at the room and the batteries needed replacing in the doorlock. Once we eclipsed this hurdle, the room was clean, well appointed, and had a very large bathroom and we enjoyed an event free evening. « less

Me and my husband are having absolutely horrible experience. We arrived in the evening, hoping to enjoy widely advertised pool/hot tubs area. There is no one light outside, so we had to ask a receptionist for the directions and had to walk with the flashlight to find our way to the pool. When we finally got there, we fund a lock on the entry door, no pool, no hot tubs, no fire in any of the fireplaces. They close everything after dark, you just have to stay in your room. Such a disappointment after paying almost $300 per night. Our weekend is ruined, we will never come back to this place with cheap management again. « less

We usually stay at the Inn when visiting Callaway Gardens but every once in a while when we feel like pampering ourselves by shelling out a few more dollars, we spend a night at the Lodge and Spa. The pluses are the facility is well maintained; the rooms are clean, comfortable and well-appointed with a large bathroom; the staff is attentive, helpful, friendly and professional and one gets that "upscale" feel. You pay more but you get more than other Callaway/Pine Mountain alternatives in terms of atmosphere and service. The room rate now includes entrance to Callaway Gardens and two bottles of water. Some negatives, but not show breakers - the staff is not particularly speedy about picking up room service glasses, cups, dishes and trash outside rooms; the cigarette cans at the entrance looked like they had not been emptied in days; and the restaurant is a little pricey, especially for breakfast. The last time we stayed there one could just get cold items from the breakfast buffet at a reasonable price but now the cost has been raised to near that of the full buffet. If you are a breakfast person the only other option is to drive to Pine Mountain. One should be aware that the parking lot is nestled in the trees, so during busy periods, one could have to walk a fair distance to his/her vehicle. Overall this is a pleasant, relaxing choice and lives up to what we consider our expectations for a Marriott. « less

We spent one night at The Lodge during our Spring Break in April. We arrived around lunch time and were greeted with a smile! The front desk rep gave us our passes for the Callaway Gardens and described all of the things going on in the park during our Wednesday and Thursday stay. Our room was not avaiable until the 4:00 check-in time, but they held our baggage at the desk for us. We were offered a different room if we preferred to check in early, but we declined because we knew the room we were assigned (8446) had an amazing view of the pool and fountain, and was on the top 4th floor. Our room was beautiful. Separate bath tub and shower with amazing tiles and granite. Very clean. A plus is there were 2 Queens instead of the normal 2 full beds that most hotels have. A little extra elbow room for all 4 of us. Through sliding glass doors there was also a great little private balcony with 2 chairs and a table. It looked like most rooms had these, and the 1st floor rooms had little patios just outside the doors with the same chairs and table. I would imagine that would be great if you have small children as they could run around and play while you sit and enjoy.
We were fortunate to have amazing weather for biking the 10 mile loop and various paths throughout the gardens. The heated pool was warm enough for our kids (age 8 & 10) to swim, and beside the pool are 2 wonderful jacuzzi pools. Beautiful stonework and landscaping around the property. We loved that the lobby offered ice water and apples for a quick cool off between bike rides. We did not dine at the on-site restaurant, but did order 2 appetizers to bring down to the pool. Delicious!
We noticed that the Lodge is actuall a conference center as well. I would imagine it would be a great place to have a conference, or even better, a wedding & reception. The ammenities were well suited for it. There is also an on-site spa, but we did not have any of those services. The guest rooms did offer the spas signature body wash, shampoo & conditioner, which is amazing and avalable for purchase.
We would definatley return to the Lodge during the weekdays. I would imagine at peak season and weekends that it tends to get crowded, but Mid-April was a great time. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I tell everyone that this is how I found this great hotel, and how easy it was, and for anyone planning to organize a group event, no matter what the size - your site is a must." S.V. - Ottawa, ON
"When people provide customer friendly service in today’s world, it should be applauded! So many businesses have taken almost and adversarial attitude towards the customer, in other words, they over compensate for a consumer not following through. As a business, it is my understanding, that the business should always follow through and do as they promise! Loyalty between consumers and businesses should remain alive, profit above service is a bad plan and will cost the business in the long run!" R.F. - Denver, CO
