We were on a bus trip to Branson and this hotel was our one-night to/from destination stay. The first night we stayed here, my husband and I chose to eat at their restaurant, rather than go with the group to another one. The restaurant is beautiful, waitress attentive and friendly and the food was very good and reasonably priced. For both stays, our rooms were located on the first floor in the pool area. The pool closed at 10pm, and even though the noise was not bothersome during pool operation hours. The rooms were clean. If we are in this area again, and on our own, we would stay here. « less

This was certainly an odd hotel. It is as if it was an old motel/travel lodge that was remodeled (many, many years ago) and turned into a holiday inn. You'll see from my photos that the rooms surround the pool, motel style, as if the pool were outdoors. It appears that they closed the pool area in by adding an overhead roof and adding on the building next to the lobby. Anyway, following is the review:
Spent one night here on a last minute priceline express deal of $55. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Had to drag our luggage up the stairs. The room itself was clean, but worn. The beds were comfortable and offered a choice of pillow. The bathroom was big enough, but the door opened awkwardly as if it was added. We actually arrived just as the pool was closing at 10 pm. We saw a lot of teens/early 20's kids coming out of the pool area and heading out to the parking lot. It was a bit weird. As if they weren't staying at the hotel, but were using the pool. I could be wrong about that, but that is how it seemed. The hotel was very empty and quiet. That is until just after midnight when I received a low, but persistent knock at my door. I opened the door thinking perhaps it was the hotel staff wanting me to turn my tv off. Instead I opened the door to find a ragged older man on the other side. He asked me something and then said he was responding to my ad on craigslist. I quickly replied that he had the wrong room and shut the door quickly. I called the front desk to alert them that there was a stranger in the hall knocking on doors. They hadn't even seen him come in! That is because there are several additional entrances to the main courtyard which do not pass through the lobby. This all summed up to my not feeling safe at this hotel even though no harm came to me.
While the room was clean, it was clearly worn ann in need of new carpeting and furniture. It didn't smell or anything. We honestly were very comfortable until the midnight caller showed up. So I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I probably would never stay there again because it appeared that there were other hotels in the area that would offer the same or better accommodations at an inexpensive price. We didn't stay for breakfast, so on that I cannot comment.
I expect the pictures I took will speak louder than my words.... « less

This is an old hotel. No remodeling here, the non-smoking room reeked of old smoke. When we arrived we learned that we had to climb a flight of stairs to our room (no elevator service to some rooms). The gal at the desk said "a short flight of stairs". She isn't 65 years old trying to haul 50 pounds of luggage up a flight of stairs. I couldn't connect to wi-fi signal, though the hotel claims to have it, and it was showing available on my networks. The bed was comfortable. Nice pillows, soft or hard, your choice. Breakfast was HOT and plentiful. We had quite a wait at check in. At 8 pm the desk was busy (and slow). « less

Please allow me this opportunity to first, apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay at our hotel and secondly, for the failure of me and my front desk staff to provide the highest quality of guest service.
Unfortunately, our hotel does not have an elevator in the Holidome area, However, the front desk should have been more than willing to assist you with your luggage.
I also want you to know that I really appreciate you taking the time to advise us of your dissatisfaction.
I will be more than happy to share your positive feed back with the management team! We appreciate both positive and negative feedback.
Thank you again!

I stayed here for 2 nights with my son on a college visit to Rose-Hulman. The front desk at check-in told me that the only rooms with 2 beds available were "pool-side". The center of the hotel is a pool area that was very crowded most of the time, with lots of screaming kids. Fortunately the noise only went on until closing time at 11 pm. The first night, I ran the shower for a long time and only had ice cold water. A maintenance man came 20 min later to replace a broken part. The small fitness room was kept unbearably hot, and most of the equipment was either broken, or poorly maintained. The room was clean and fine for the short stay, but the lasting impression was made by the bizarre design of the rooms with one entire wall facing the outer hallway being made of glass. There is a full length curtain which had to be kept completely drawn, or you would otherwise have the feeling of being in a fish tank! « less

I apologize for the noise that you had to endure from the children running and screaming through the Holidome area .For any further accomodations I would suggest requesting a room located in our "highrise" which offers a quieter location but I am pleased to hear that the front desk did follow proper procedures to ensure that the Holidome area and pool were closed at 11pm.
Also, I appreciate all your feedback concerning the Fitness Center. I will forward all your comments to our Chief Engineer to ensure the above issues are resolved.
I hope that this information is helpful and we look forward to your return business to give us the opportunity to make it up to you!
Thank you,

We spent one night here en route across the country and found the staff to be very friendly. Our room was perfectly clean and roomy (king size room), the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was great: a full buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, cereal, yogurt, danish and every condiment you might want. Additionally, we got a full pot of coffee at our table.
There's a small bar in the hotel, with a separate outside entrance in addition to the entrance from the hotel. There's also a much larger lobby/bar area across the hall from the large dining room. We went down to the bar hoping to catch a March Madness game, but there was only one TV there and it wasn't tuned to any sporting event so we left. It seemed like a nice place to grab a drink or two though.
We'll definitely stay here again if we ever need to stay over night in Terre Haute. The only thing that kept this Holiday Inn from being a "5" in my book was the pillows. They were quite small and much too soft for my liking - shouldn't a king size bed have king size pillows? Instead, they were almost travel size - certainly much smaller than our queen size pillows at home. Next time we'll bring our own. The pillow issue isn't big enough to keep us from staying here again, or recommending it to other travelers.
The location is great - right off IH-70 on the south side of the interstate. Not quite a block from the interstate but far enough away that highway noise didn't interrupt our sleep. « less
