We spent a couple of days here. The view from the balcony is the most impressive I'd seen in Panama. We saw a variety of birds when we were out walking and a crocodile down by the lake. The rooms were good and we enjoyed the rainforest experience. They offer several activities each day which make the days quite interesting. We liked the aerial tram ride. « less

The building was built in the same style as the Americans used when it was a recreational area for Americans. There appears to be three different sections; built at different times. Our first room was in the middle section by age. It was very large with a nicely tiled bathroom, balcony with hammock and a view of the water. Then the door lock did not work and we were forced to move and the only space was in the oldest section. This could have happened at any hotel and does not detract from our review. The next room was in the oldest section. It was large, but not quite as large as the first. It had wicker furniture, a little balcony and also overlooked the water. The air conditioning was noisy and it did not have a dehumidifier as most rooms did. The meals were good and the staff was pleasant. We saw and heard a number of wild animals around the hotel and when we were nearby. « less

We stayed at the Rainforest Resort for a getaway from the city and were surprised how lush the area was even in the dry season..They lost our reservation but made up for it by upgrading us to a 2-level suite!! Breakfast was amazing, but snack and drink prices were crazy expensive..We live in Panama and local beers that cost $.80-$1.00 elsewhere where $4 there...The front desk manager was great and helped us out when our reservation was lost and we were thankful she was there!! A unique experience near the city, on the river with a beautiful backdrop but once is enough... « less

The hotel is very impressive looking. I took the free night tour the hotel offered and really enjoyed that and had a great guide. They also offer free bicycle rides with helmets. The room was large and had a hammock on the balcony. Between the dehumidifier and the air conditioner it was pretty noisy trying to sleep at night. Our dehumidifier flooded so make sure you empty it twice during the day. The staff here has limited english, I called housekeeping who had to transfer me to reception who still couldn't understand my basic request so I finally had to just say send someone to my room.
The electric clock on the nightstand doesn't glow in the dark so you don't know what time it is unless you turn on the light, how inconvenient. In our room safe someone cut out the letters "lock" and "open" so it was a guessing game on how to use it. The pool bar couldn't make me a pina colada on the two days I asked.
There was no hot water in the shower. Meal time is buffet and there's a huge assortment of desserts! The watermelon juice tasted like they mixed it with water, terrible. The signs on the food was not accurate. For instance one sign said "lo mein with vegetables" when there was clearly beef in it. At breakfast it took them a long time to refill the food. The dining room gets packed.
The Clarins spa has the same prices as in the USA. The gift shop was selling the typical white Panama hat for $40 when I saw it for $15-25 everywhere else in Panama. They offered free wi-fi in the lobby but you had to pay to use their computers, didn't like that. « less

Me and my wife stayed here for a week while attending a conference. The resort is BIG. So there's lots to do all the time. Nice pool, Bike rental, jungle tours, canal tours etc.. All on site. The hotel is fairly well kept, although i did notice a few areas that needed a coat of paint and some of the sun beds needed bit of love. But this didn't affect our stay. The food was good and plenty of it, although I did feel it was the same every day, so by day 3 we got a bit bored. You may want to give the a la carte restaurant a try to break things up a bit. Our only real frustration was the customer service. Asking numerous time las for a cup of coffee or having to call reception 3 times for clean towels, and many other things. It wasn't horrible, and all the staff were super friendly. I think it's more of a cultural thing, as I've been to other places in the world and had similar experiences. A very relaxed attitude to customer service. So go with that in mind. I would recommend this place to my friends and would go back. All in all a great time in a relaxing resort. « less
