I read many of the reviews before I went on my trip so to say the least I was very nervous. I had bought a Groupon for the hotel not knowing anything about it. The staff was very friendly to us from the main desk to the breakfast ladies. Yes, the hotel is outdated but our room was nice. We had a updated bathroom and a big screen tv. The best part about our room was the stream behind it. We kept the window open all weekend to enjoy the noise. When we first got there the smell of the fireplace was a bit overwhelming. However, with the window open the smell cleared up quickly. The biggest problem we had was with the room key. Everytime we went back to the room we had to have it reprogamed. Luckly we were very close to the office. The grounds were nice expect the pool had not been cleaned up for the season yet. The breakfast was good with bisquits and gravy, cereal, and casserole. The walk into town was a bit more than I had expected it to me. One day we left the car parked down town so we only had to make the walk once. Overall, I think the hotel is making some good changes and I would likely stay here again. If you want to be in the hustle of downtown then this hotel is not it. It is very calm and relaxing though. « less

My boyfriend & I stayed here for 2 nites ...... thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn't have asked for better service. They really went above & beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable.... got free firewood for the fireplace. Room was clean and more spacious than I was expecting. Nice balcony over looking the river. Liked the "cabin" quality of the room. Thanks! We enjoyed our stay :) « less

The rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the stream and on the top floor are very quiet and peaceful. It was a roaring stream when I stayed there mid-April, but I loved sitting on the deck enjoying the dogwoods that were blooming. The hotel IS under renovation and the rooms on the upper floor are "dated," but very comfortable and spacious. I didn't use the wood-burning fireplace, but it would be lovely in the winter. I enjoyed being 5 minutes away from the Convention Center but out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Gatlinburg.
Breakfast was fine--a nice hash brown/egg casserole every morning (I was there for 6 nights) which was delicious with sausage gravy on top!! Fresh fruit available--bananas and apples. Maid service was "spotty," and one day the maid apparently forgot to "do" my room.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again for the reasons above. By the way, I believe that the hotel is now "pet-friendly" (for an additional charge). I would hope that Brookside would set aside certain rooms for pets and their owners rather than making all of the rooms available. (Being a pet owner myself, I appreciate that not everyone loves dogs!) « less

This place was great for us. We had a fireplace in the room and a balcony that faced a stream in the rear of the resort. The room was out dated but clean with a Jacuzzi bathtub and a small fridge. We mainly wanted a cheap place to stay while taking advantage of all Gatlinburg had to offer. They offer a free breakfast and have an outdoor pool that im sure is open during the summer months. Overall we had a nice experience during our stay here. « less

We booked this property through a travel agency. They should be ashamed to book any clients here. This would be a place I would only stay if I was driving and couldn't find any other rooms. The staff was nice enough, but only one maintance person did what they said. All others said they would take care of it and never followed through! The towels were cheap, the tissues and toilet paper were the cheapest grade. The lighting was very dim and dated. They say they have wireless internet - don't believe it! I only connected once during our stay. The breakfast they brag on was horrendous and stingy. They don't even have bread for toast. My sheets very old and the spread was so old it had lost its loft long ago. Of course you can imagine in a facility this old, there were very few electric outlets to charge our phones, etc. The last night we saw tiny bugs in the room - eww! Please don't believe the promise of rennovation - it's not true!! « less

"Everything was satisfactory at the hotel. Leslie, their group sales coordinator did an excellent job taking care of our needs for billeting and hospitality facilities. Your web site is among my favorite sites and may, in fact, be used again next year for a possible reunion in our nation's capitol." R.R. - Southwest Florida
