This place was very nice. Front desk was very friendly, staff said hi every time we passed them by. We had a spa room and it was very large, very clean! Things went well till 4:00 am when our neighbors couldn't find their room! The guy kept pounding on our door to let him in. I got up told him wrong room and of course his room is next to ours where continued to make noise at 5:00 am. Finally he left and everything was great. Overall it's nice. Parking is a little tight but free. Walls are a little thin though. I would stay again. « less

This hotel is a mixed bag. The room was an OK size and clean and had a comfortable bed, but the room backed up to a highway and there was a little car noise (but we could sleep through it). The hotel is fairly close to the airport and has a free shuttle but there are numerous comparably-priced hotels closer to the airport if that is a priority. Also, the first shuttle isn't until 5:00 AM so if you have a really early flight you will need to take a cab. It provides a free shuttle to Old Town but that is because it's too far to walk. There are hotels and motels much closer. It has an underground garage, but the spaces are really quite small. It has a shop that sells an unusually large selection of food items but that is because it does not have a restaurant and there is none within a short walking distance. There is a breakfast buffet but if you have a very early flight the buffet won't be open yet. The hotel provides free coffee in the lobby but the coffee was cold every time we tried it. The staff was friendly and helpful. « less

I enjoy sailing from San Diego and have always stayed in the downtown area within walking distance of the pier. A huge medical convention was in town at the time I needed a room, and the only rooms I could find were in the $300-$400 range, and that was only because I’m a Hilton Honors Diamond Member. Other cruisers couldn’t find a room downtown at any price.
I expanded my search beyond the downtown area but still within a reasonable cab ride from the airport and to the cruise terminal. I found a reasonably priced room at the Holiday Inn Express in Old Town, but it was a pay-in-advance, non-refundable rate. I thought I’d look around a little more before making that kind of commitment, and to my dismay, the next day the rate had gone up by $40. Obviously I needed to lock something in, so I reluctantly pre-paid for my room. This was definitely a case of supply and demand.
A big reason why I chose this particular hotel was because they offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and also to the cruise ship terminal. When the shuttle pulled up in front of the hotel after picking me up, I realized I had stayed there before in 2007 when it was the Comfort Inn. Since that time it’s been remodeled and refurbished both inside and out.
The rooms are clean, basic, and comfortable. A complimentary hot breakfast is offered in the morning. The breakfast area is large and there was no waiting for a table. There’s also a small business center right off the lobby, as well as a well-stocked store when you can purchase food and beverages and anything you forgot to pack or need in the way of toiletries. The hotel staff was helpful and had a lot of local knowledge about things to see and do in the area.
You can arrange to have the hotel’s shuttle drop you off and pick you up at any number of restaurants along San Diego Avenue. I preferred to walk, especially after a four hour plane ride. The area is safe and well traveled. I walked down one side of the street to the State Park and then back on the other, stopping along the way to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I also purchased some wine at a liquor store to take with me on the ship.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. That said, I felt I had to overpay, due to the circumstances, for what is still a Holiday Inn Express. And one last thing. This is a pet peeve of mine. I could not believe how few guests tipped the hard working shuttle drivers. You would think with a complimentary service that people could spare a few dollars to show their appreciation. « less

Stayed at this hotel a few times as its really handy when you are flying from San Diego.
Staff are freindly, rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet.
There is a small outdoor pool, and a hot tub further down.
There is nowhere to have dinner in teh hotel, but there is a 24 hour shop which has everything - if you need a snack, or a keyring this place has it all! Breakfast is served in the hotel. I've always flown too early to try it though!

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"My team and I had a great stay at the Marriot Norcross last week. I was unable to meet up with Ms Vanita and unable to passed her a box of Godiva Chocolates I bought for her. We will not even bother to seek other hotel-planning-organization after we have used your great service. You can even quote me on this. Meanwhile, we have to make 2 trips to the states every year from now onwards and will definitely use your services. Once again, thank you for making our trip a success." O.S. - Atlanta, GA
"I really have never done this before, but I really appreciate the help from this website for getting me a great deal and choice of hotels." T.R. - Dallas, TX
