We visited Dreams PA with our 3 -year old daughter for the first time in April this year. I had spent a lot of time beforehand reading tons of reviews for a number of hotels around Cancun, Tulum and the Riviera Maya and Dreams PA was the only one with the highest number of positive reviews... so - we went with this and booked through Virgin Holidays.
We were not disappointed. Every review about the staff, hotel and location were spot on. The hotel and location are stunning and beautiful. the beach is white sand and clear turquiose water. After some rain or a storm there would be a bit of seaweed which had been washed up but the guys would be out there first thing every morning raking the sand and clearing it all away.
On arrival everyone was given a delicious cold glass of cava and cold towel with their 'hello', then on check-in (which was very quick, friendly and smooth after such a long journey from the UK), we were very lucky to be upgraded to the Concierge floor which was a fantastic surprise. We had a room overlooking the Dolphinarium which our daughter loved every morning waking up to hearing the dolphins 'speaking' to her. This also overlooks the adult pool which was pretty rowdy every day with everyone having fun at the bar but it never caused a problem for us. Whenever our daughter needed a siesta we would just close the balcony door and we wouldn't hear a thing.
What really made the holiday so much more special was the staff. They are all superb - and everything seems to work like a well-oiled machine - Sarah on the Concierge Floor, Obed and Mariela at the Oceana Restaurant, Carlos from the Grill and all of the wonderfully patient ladies who run the Kids Explorers Club - to name but a few! And then there were the amazing Entertainment Staff - especially Israel, Ivan and Jesus who work throughout the day (and well into the night!) with different things to do every hour to keep you entertained! Our daughter took a real shine to them and wouldn't leave them alone! They were great fun and really made the holiday even more memorable.
We went on an excursion which we booked through Virgin Holidays to Tulum and Xel-Ha. David was the V Hol Mexico Rep and he was fantastic on the run up to the holiday answering all of our questions about the various tours and whether they'd work for our 3 year-old. Then we met him at the hotel and he was amazingly helpful once again. I'd def recommend Tulum and Xel-ha.
The only thing we would suggest to possibly change for the better would be the music at the pool (the main beach pool). Every day the same music would be played over and over on a loop and it was always a sort of wierd mixture of euro pop and rock. When the entertainment team played music from their ipods / laptop for various activties then the music was great - a real mix of Latin music and current, more popular pop which was brilliant - it got everyone going and a number of people we met during our time there all had the exact same comments about the music.
The only reason I gave the spa 4 stars instead of 5 was because I thought it might add to the experience if there was some nice music playing in the background. I had a pedicure and manicure in the salon (which was great) but it was totally silent so it might have been nice to have some traditional Latin / mexican music in the background :-).
All in all - and amazing holiday at a wonderful resort. We're already planning our next trip over :-) « less

My three friends and I stayed at Dreams PA for a week in late April. It was a wonderful place to stay. The adjoining rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable. The restaurants were excellent and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We borrowed bikes one day and kayaked another (with the resort's guide).
We did have problems with the safes 2 or 3 times, but the security person came immediately and fixed them for us.
For four women who like to walk, the only drawback was the very small beachfront. « less

We visited this resort for a second time in the middle of April. We had 4 free nights from our last trip and thought we would take advantage of them. Not much had changed from our last visit. The dolphins were a nice addition. The check in went smoother and our rooms were fine. The rooms are old and in need of a major face lift. Our safe didn't work and it was fixed in 10 minutes , which was a far cry from our phone which didn't work the whole trip. My parents safe didn't work the whole time as well. We loved the sushi restaurant! Went there twice in our 4 day stay. Kids club was very hit and miss. Some days great activities for all ages and some days really boring and nothing. Overall experience average.....won't be back « less

Last year we discover this gem of a hotel in Puerto Aventuras Mexico and as world travelers fav 5. in fact we are writing this review on the eve of our last night of our honeymoon in room 646 the ocean view suite. we , like last year were greeted upon arrival with a cold towel and champagne. Edgar made check in a breeze and got us in our room early. The door to our room sported a banner that said "honeymoon" which was a pleasant surprise. The concierges Alejandra and Ingrid were amazing and anticpated our every need. The truly made us feel special. The resort itself is beautiful , the rooms are clean and the staff are all so friendly. From fruit trays delivered to our room to remembering our names when they saw us they are on a world class staff level. We will be back soon and look forward to seeing them again. « less

I have visited two other resorts in beautiful Puerto Aventuras community in the past but this vacation was special as it was the first one with our 2 year old daughter. We decided to go to Dreams this time and mainly because it was the closest one to the actual Puerto Aventuras marinas and village (literally behind the hotel) and the beach seemed most protected and nicest. And it was absolutely the best decision for many more reasons. The hotel is 7 stories high and we chose the preferred club ocean view on the 7th floor that has most wonderful view of the ocean and beach (yes right from your bed). A great call since with 2 year old we've spent more time in the room then we normally would (eat, naps etc.), but because of the view from private balcony and all service available for the preferred club members (Armando is the best!!) we absolutely loved it!!! Beach is perfect size, in the lagoon, soft sand, waves break before they hit the shore, great for kids and relaxing adults!!! Food is good all around with really good variety. Service everywhere is prompt and always friendly. The smaller size of the resort enables to be everywhere within a minute (which was not a case in other larger resorts). The ability to walk out trough the back entrance in the hotel and walk right into marina community of Puerto Aventuras (gated community) and see dolphins swimming cheerfully trough canal as you stroll by stores and restaurants is fantastic. Pools are kid friendly and positioned perfectly for parents to have fun with kids. There are many other services, such beautiful spa, massage in the adult area that we did not have time to experience but it seemed great (next time definitely). All in all if you are looking for the great family vacation place that is perfect blend of safe fun for kids and royal relaxation for parents then the the Dreams in Puerto Aventuras is that place. We are going back next year and I can't wait.... « less
