Arrived at hotel appox 8.15pm-Receptionist Excellent • Went to room named POPLAR, on arrival we could hear the continuous drone of the kitchen extractor ducting, if you are to make this room available to guest at the full price it is obvious to fit a silencer to the extraction system, and sound proof glazing, expensive yes, but you are in the business to make your guests visit comfortable and pleasant, if you don’t want to make these improvements to this room, either price it at a lower rate telling guests of the noise, or use it for housekeeping, in the bathroom the mastic around the marble work was appalling, and mould in the grout above bath, would you accept this your self? • Failure of housekeeping, maintenance and management for not checking on quality of room.
Receptionist moved us to Room 18, again Receptionist Excellent • One bottle of quests water empty, room unclean, housekeeping failure, would you accept this yourself? • Mastic around bathroom appalling, done by amateur. Would you accept this yourself? • Look behind the bath screen and see all the mould gathering. Would you accept this yourself? • Paint work appalling, door handles with paint on, hinges painted over, this is one of the biggest no no’s in private and public buildings, electric fittings with paint on, tile skirting with paint on, again this work looks like this was done by an amateur. Would you accept this yourself? • At breakfast tea and coffee came 10 minutes after order was taken; there was no tea strainer or sugar on table. Would you accept this yourself? You are meant to be a 4 star Hotel, even with a name of Hand Picked, this is failings in maintenance and housekeeping departments, but most of all, very bad management for not overseeing how the quality of your hotel rooms are being presented to your guests. If I had a general Manager that could accept just one of there faults, I'm afraid he or she would have to go. To show that I want to be fair about my visit to your hotel, the wedding reception on the 18th May was excellent. « less

Stayed here yet again for the most delightful stay during a night of heavy snow in January 3013. A heavy snow fall made our stay even more magical than usual, however the snowplough clearing the long drive in the middle of the night did keep us awake, this should not be a problem usually! Dinner and breakfast was of the usual high standard and could not be faulted. Service was excellent and when my brother and his partner arrived for breakfast after a two hour drive the staff could not have been more helpful. Another great stay at a Hand Picked Hotel. « less

Could not ask for more from a hotel, easily one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The grounds are perfect for going for a walk. Very picturesque views whilst walking. They even provide wellies for you.
