I stayed two nights at this motel at a very reasonable rate. Room was very clean and comfortable. Extremely helpful, nice person at the front desk that even gave me a hug when I left. Would not have minded staying there longer but had made reservations elsewhere in same city which I thought about cancelling and when I recieve the credit card bill, I will wish I had!! « less

My husband and I booked two nights at the Magic Carpet Lodge in April 2013. We were looking for an inexpensive hotel but decent and this fit the bill. We came a bit early hoping to put our bags in the room so we could check in for a conference in Monterey. The front desk check- in lady was friendly and phoned the maid to clean the room so we didn't have to return later. Truly apreciated! The room and pool area were clean. The mattress was soft not good for a bad back. Continental breakfast was minimal - cereal, muffins, toast, bagels, fruit and juice. Very helpful and friendly service. Thank you! « less

I needed a place to stay locally and close to my daughter's swim venue in the Seaside area for the weekend without breaking my budget and since we had to be at the pool very early in the morning, I was looking for someplace 'reasonable' which is hard to find in the Monterey Bay area. On very short notice (like the night before), I called the wrong hotel and ended up speaking with a very nice lady (owner) of the Magic Carpet and she gave me the correct number to the hotel I was originally looking for. When I called that hotel and found it was sold out, I quickly called back the Magic Carpet and was able to grab the last room they had. Because of her friendliness and customer service, I felt comfortable and when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that the lnn was clean, comfortable and decent. It's not the Embassy suites or Hyatt, but for the price and considering we were just 'sleeping' there, it was better than driving an hour and half in traffic for 2 days. I was so tired that I didn't notice anything or look for anything negative about the place, but the convenience of driving ONE mile to the pool and coming back to a clean bed and bathroom was priceless. « less

I stayed at Magic Carpet Lodge in December 2012, and the desk staff was very friendly and professional. We checked in late at night and he went out of his way to help us out. He made the stay much nicer, and I just want to acknowledge is friendliness.

MY 2 friends and I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights mainly because we had to attend a conference in Monterey. FIrstly, the rates are incredibly low- yes I know it's not a 5 star resort but you can't beat that price for comfort. We had a little hiccup upon check-in because of a little misunderstanding but that was quickly resolved by the proficient Ben! Lupita- the Front Desk clerk was really awesome too. All the staff were so bubbly and kind...they greet you with a smile and make your needs first priority at ALL TIMES. Honestly, the rooms were more than I expected, beds comfortable. It was always well kept when we left and returned at night. The bathrooms were super clean ( and that's something I have a fetish for). A simple continental breakfast was prepared every morning. Some people complain that they had the same things everyday but how I see it if you want a buffet breakfast, go to a 5 star hotel. SO I was contented- I didn't pay much to get anyting special. There's a bus station, and a fabulous plaza with major stores like ROSS, Target, Payless all in walking distance ( What more can a woman ask for...lol) OH, and FREE WI-FI: That's a PLUS!!! So like I always say everyone has their different expectations but jus remember you get what you pay for. and Magic CArpet was worthy my every dime ..Thanks again!!!! « less
