For the past 5+ years, we have been attending family reunions each year in May and we always stay at this hotel. This year we had 12 room nights as the family gathered. Sadly, it is still a bit run down and needs a lot of work but one can see some improvements being made. For example, breakfast has been upgraded to provide additional hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausages) apart from waffles. Carpeting in rooms are being deep cleaned and the rooms are usually clean and beds are comfy. Hotel service staff tries very hard to help out on any problems and very quickly.
Then, of course, there is the glorious pool. Now also upgraded for handicapped access. We have stayed in at least 5 other Choice Hotels (Clarion & Comfort) over the last 2 weeks, all with indoor pools, but none can compete with this huge and warm pool. Too bad I can only get here once a year!
Architecturally, this was once a beautiful place. It is crying out for some TLC. « less

Where do I start. This place is in dire need of a big upgrade. It looks "ragged" both outside and inside. The parking area needs more light poles for security, esp. on the rear parking area which adjoins a wooded bank where someone could easily access the cars there to damage or vandalize them (there is no fence there). Our room was on the back side and you have to walk into the motel from the back dimly light entrance, walk upstairs to the second floor, then walk back outside to an exterior balcony to access your second floor room! The carpets are dingy and dirty. Room WIFI is strange. The clerk notified me it is available by every other room. So to access it, it would only work if you literally stood outside the next room on the balcony, otherwise it was too far away. It did not work in our room at al because the nearest "site" was the next room over! When it finally connected, the speed was so weak and snail slow at 2 mbps! Furniture was old; TV old; Few stations. There were not enough electrical outlets in the room and our bed wall-mounted lamps were unplugged. There was no wastebasket by the vanity; there was a badly located wire towel rack on the wall adjacent to the vanity and so close to the door leading to the side toilet/ shower room that I kept hitting my head on it; the shower had old fashioned 4 x 4 tile and grout was missing; the stopper was missing from the sink; the shower had hard to adjust water faucets; and there was an old dusty noisy heater/ air conditioner unit. « less

But for future references, there are plans in the works for remodeling in the future as well as we are in the process of doing what we can to make things better as well. The last time I stayed in this hotel was about 5 months ago, same thing, the room was not ready at check in time. The carpet needed replacement or a detail shampoo. The TVs and furniture were very old. The comforters on the bed were old and need at the very least a good washing. A lot of the outside door that supposed to require key cards to get in were popped open. The only good things are the staff were quite friendly and the breakfast was great. « less

The hotel looks pretty nice from the outside and the lobby looks ok, but once you walk into the hallways, the rugs are disqusting and very dirty. I discovered a dead bug on the floor and the floor in the room had a stain on it and was not appealing at all. We should have found another place, but tired after driving all day. I certainly would not recommend this hotel. I think Choice Hotels should check this place out as it needs a major renovation. « less
