We stayed here one night before our flight from Zurich to Washington D.C.. The hotel is very modern, clean rooms, friendly staff. Size of the room is ok (especially for one night). Free breakfast buffet on the next morning was absolutely ok. Value for money is good! We could recommend this hotel. « less

Dropped rental car off at Sixt on Pfingstweidstrasse. Took train S5 (going towards Niederwingen); got off at Rumlang stop. Blue signs showing "Hotels" directed us to hotel. About a 5 minute walk. Able to check in at noon. Immediately signed up for 5 am shuttle to airport. Room was comfortable, bed and sofa bed. Even though it is right by train tracks, and trains seem to run about every 5 minutes, the room was very quiet. TV with lots of channels, plenty of shows in English. Restaurant was good for dinner. Breakfast starts at 4 am. Typical European breakfast, actually had hard boiled eggs, which some of the places I stayed at didn't have, and a toaster, which is sometimes nice. Took 5 am shuttle (first one of the morning) for my flight. Shuttle had a trailer that they carried the luggage in.About 10 minutes to airport. Not a lot around the hotel, there was a McDonalds, a Subway, a nice pizza/pasta place and an Aldo market, which was nice for a few goodies, even last minute items to bring home. I lost my iPad charger somewhere on my trip and the front desk was able to loan me one to charge up. « less

Zurich may be the most expensive city in the world, as such be prepared for a shock when you dine or purchase items. I had an eighteen hour layover and decided to stay at the HI Express Zurich Airport as my base. The inn is on the far perimeter of the airport but a courtesy van was a available on a regularly scheduled basis. The van also provided scheduled service for a fee to the center of Zurich. This was all very good. The hotel itself was adequate but very expensive for what you received. The room although modern was cramped and had an awful mattress, perhaps the worst I have ever experienced. Two plastic cups and liquid soap/shampoo were provided. The breakfast buffet was acceptable although quite limited. My suggestion is to avoid Zurich as a layover point. if not be prepared to pay! This should not be viewed as negative toward the hotel but the reality of economics. « less

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review and all the important information given. These information will help us to improve our quality and make sure that the stay for future guests will be even more relaxing.
There is not much we as a hotel can do to make Zurich and Switzerland less expensive. We offer rooms from CHF 89.00 incl. breakfast, free shuttle and half an hour complimentary internet usage. I think this is a very reasonalbe and moderate price for Zurich. All our rooms and equipment is due to the IHG/Holiday Inn Standards - you will find such standards all around the world in all hotels like this.
Thanks you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconveniences caused.

Not even the typical quality you find at Holiday Inn Express! The bed was not even acceptable...cheap, thin, flimsy mattress, and although the room itself was well-appointed, modern, and attractive, the bed was not...the fold out sofa...if you can call it that, would not have worked for anyone but two young children.
But the important part...at the driveway entrance to the hotel, there is a median separating the driveway in and driveway exit...it is about 2-3 meters wide and 12-15 meters long...it is bordered by metal edging that elevates about 3 inches above the driveway surface, and it is filled with coarse rock/gravel. There are two light fixtures, similar to street lights (see picture) at each end of this median area. When you leave the hotel main entrance, you walk across this median to reach the sidewalk that leads to the main sidewalk along the street...my wife and I exited the hotel and walked across this median at night, seeking a restaurant up the street. As we crossed the median, she tripped and fell on the rock, bruising herself, cutting her hand and breaking her ipad as she dropped it to try and protect herself. After we went back inside and took care of her injuries, I went outside to see what we had missed. One of these "street lights" was burned out!!! It would be very difficult to see the edging with this poor lighting. Apparently, the median has had grass and/or shrubs but has been filled in with gravel. I went inside and the front office personnel were very helpful and filed a report regarding this...we are awaiting an effectual response from the OWNER regarding my wife's injury and ipad damage. There is no doubt the Hotel is liable as the light was burned out...very poor lighting with only one light out there, and the median needs better marking. « less

Dear Guest Thank you for your review and all the important information given. This will help us to improve the quality of our service. The design, equippment and standards at our hotel are due to the IHG/Holiday Inn standard scheme. All Express Hotels around the world have the same standards and we did not have a lot of complaints about this till today. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused, because the light was not working. These lights must have been damaged due to a powercut we had during the day time. We did not know that the lights were out of order. We reacted at once to get them reaired. We are very sorry about the insuries of your wife and we all hope she is now feeling better. I am very happy that my fiendly staff took so good care of her. Sorry, that your lap top was damaged - as to our email conversation in the last days we have passed on the case to our insurence and the damage will either be repaired or the electronic item replaced. Please understand that this administrational procedure will take some time since we have a couple of bank holidays in the month of May 2013.
Again, I would like to apologize for any inconveniences and hope that you give us a second chance.
Kind regards Thomas Mettler, GM

the staff at the desk were super friendly both the night and morning shift. They were efficient and quick in processing our reservation. the rooms were quit large for European standards and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had a large variety of hot and cold meals. There was even some gaming area right next to the reception with huge pillows on the floor like dog beds. Something I guess for the kids while the adults check-in or while they have a drink in the lounge. The only bad thing was the limited internet usage and the fact that it was very slow. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"By the way, I was very pleased with your site's service! It turned out that our group got a better room price reservation at a comparable hotel to the one we were considering. Since our small jazz band doesn't really have any budget to speak of, price was an important consideration and thanks to your service we were able to save money without sacrificing on the quality and amenities of the hotel. Thanks again! We'll be using you again, I'm sure, for future trips." D.R. - Auburn, WA
"Yes, this was so easy compared to our last reunion, where we went from one hotel to the other to get information. Our guests loved the free breakfast. Thanks!" B.B. - Tampa, FL
