Miami (Amtrak station) is station on the southern end of two popular long distance trains, the Silver Meteor and Silver Star. The station was built in 1998 and is identical to the Amtrak station in St. Paul, MN, built 20 years earlier. The lower lobby and bar located in the three-story atrium capitalize on the beautiful waterfront location. The atrium has been opened up to provide lagoon views from the hotel’s formal entry. Accessed by a grand staircase, the renovated area is drenched with sunlight during the day and softly illuminated by a trio of tiered bronze chandeliers suspended from the high ceiling. At the top of the staircase stands a classic Art Deco bronze sculpture of a kneeling woman holding an illuminated globe. Two replicas of the statue flank the hotel’s main entrance.
