The Hilton St. Charles was once the home of the Masonic Lodge of New Orleans. As such, there is beautiful masonry and a fusion of rich styles throughout the property. When you arrive at the building, you should spend several minutes studying the meticulous detail carved into the facade. Inside, the original floors, panels and ceilings hint at the nuances of a genteel era while being kept up to date with newer furnishings. This hotel is designed to host parties, meetings, weddings...any function that you can conceive can be accommodated. It even has a chapel on site. Secret doors and hidden staircases will intrigue...if you care to ask one of the veteran staff. Double rooms are unusually spacious. Suites contain separate whirlpool tubs and showers. All rooms provide various degrees of city views. This hotel is a fascinating slice of New Orleans history.

Property Description

The Hilton St. Charles Hotel was built in 1926 as the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, also formerly known at the Masonic Temple. This property was the first skyscraper in New Orleans upon its completion. Touches of the original craftsmanship and architecture are evident throughout the hotel. Our magnificent ballrooms and meeting rooms were originally lodge halls and have been meticulously restored. Your guests will arrive to elaborate trim located on the façade and the clanging bell from the St. Charles Avenue Street Car. Enjoy ornate marble that finishes the hotel entrance and the original doors that still open onto St. Charles Avenue. Additionally, there is magnificent stone paneling on different levels throughout the hotel.In the eye of the City’s Central Business District and just blocks from the French Quarter, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the Superdome, it caters to discerning travelers who are drawn to the Hilton’s, plush feel and sublime service. The Hotel offers a Concierge Level & Executive Lounge, full service restaurant and lounge, business center, on site state of the art fitness center and indoor poll and whirlpool, gift shop and valet services. Our historic meeting rooms are among the most unique in the city. The 5 ballrooms have been restored and feature 17’ ceilings, stained glass windows and built in stages. These rooms have elaborate crown molding and wall columns decorated to represent the 5 orders of architecture including Corinthian, Iconic, Doric, Composite and Tuscan. Each room is unique in style yet similar in shape and size. Our meeting space also includes 3 boardrooms that can hold up to 30 people each. The Ursuline Boardroom is set in permanent boardroom seating with leather seating and large boardroom table to accommodate up to 14 people. All ballrooms have pre-existing stage in them, which does not take away from the seating capacity.
