DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! I checked in to this hotel on Monday morning and check out at 6am Wednesday. Due to the fact that Embassy Suites is in the middle of labor dispute with it's own employees. That means that there was a picket line in front of the hotel at 6am with some very loud and agitated workers. I immediately checked out as soon as this became apparent. Furthermore, I was outraged at the fact that the General Manager is not transparent with its customers about this dispute, BEFORE taking my money. It's also disheartening that the Embassy suites are not treating their workers with respect. In the two days I was in the hotel, all the workers were very attentive and displayed exemplary hospitality. ASK ABOUT THIS BEFORE BOOKING! « less

The arrival experience was nice. It was our anniversary and they wrote a personalized note and provided complimentry dessert and beverages coupons. BAD-server refused to let us use them for Alcohol, never offered to get the mgr, tried to get us to purchase and even made us feel as if we produced them in our ROOM. Husband had to get MGR to straighten it out. TURNS OUT WE COULD USE THEM FOR ALCOHOL! WOW-GET RETRAINED « less

One of the best things about any Embassy Suites is the ability to relax in your own living space before going to bed.
This property is typical of the usual ES quality. It was well appointed, had great views and was in an exceptionally convenient and safe area of Irvine. Great made to order breakfast - even serving crepes some mornings.
The negatives - The couch was a little stained, (other than that the room was very clean). The food in the restaurant was fair and like most hotels, overpriced. The French onion soup was wonderful, The Rueben was a good choice, ribs - okay, coleslaw that came with it was wilted and bland. for $4.95 you can get a sparse piece of supermarket cheesecake - don't bother it tastes like the cooler. There is a WONDERFUL Mexican restaurant 1/2 block away (El Torito Grill) that is similarly priced and well worth it.
Things I would change: I was visiting from Michigan, and wanted to enjoy the warm California sunshine but there was no outdoor seating except at the entrance under the portico. The staff could be more familiar with the area. When I asked for a walking route (to get some of that air and sunshine) they looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Finally someone did let me know of a walking trail along a via duct that was beautiful with lots of flowers and bushes, but it's a bit of a hike.
If this were in a colder climate, I would stay here again and enjoy the indoor pool (it looked clean) but when I return in June I will opt for something with an outdoor pool and amenities. « less
