My friend and I stayed here for 10 days in May 2013. It was a great location for us as it was close to the shops in Union Square as well as to the Cable Cars for when we needed to get to Fisherman's Wharf. It also felt pretty safe as compared to some of the other areas in SF. It is close to Chinatown and other restaurants in the Union Square area. The room we had was noisy at night but it is a city hotel! Our room was well presented, the beds were comfortable, housekeeping was reliable and the bathroom, while small, was adequate. It wasn't the sort of room where you'd want to just hang out in all day but suited us fine, given the price and location. Limitations were there were no tea making facilities (we had to buy a kettle) and the hair dryer stopped working after 10 sec of use (again we bought one for our stay). The free WIFI was good and only on a couple of occasions did it not work for us. Generally we found the staff not that helpful (with the exception of a couple). That said they were not rude just didn't solve the problem or were lack luster in responding to our requests. « less

two girlfriends on 4 day visit to San Francisco...choosing a hotel over the internet from the huge choice in the city....we lucked out with the Executive on Bush St..... Location.....2 blocks from Union Square and within short walking distance to all transportation, many restaurants, Chinatown, and shopping. The staff......friendly, very helpful, with good knowledge of the area and good suggestions for touring about. The hotel.....100 yr.old building.....clean, nicely appointed. good sized rooms and fairly priced. Wine tasting.....what fun....we met some wonderful fellow travelers, also with good sightseeing suggestions. Masa dining room closed, except for breakfast. Will stay at the Executive again when we return to the area. To the staff.....thank you so much and yes, we got to Livermore without a hitch and back to SFO airport, also without a hitch via the BART. Yea!!!! « less

Great location. Nothing special about this hotel but was overall clean and friendly staff. The reception staff was helpful and courteous. The rooms were a decent size.
Actually stayed there between Dec 31 - Jan 02, 2012 but putting this review quite late and I am not allowed to select the right date in the provided drop down. Price was reasonable given the peak season.
During this peak season, the rush was high but the cleanliness and friendly behavior was well maintained. « less

My husband and I arrived by Bart and easily found the hotel by walking from Powell Station. We were early but the receptionist, Mila, made us feel very welcome, stored our bags and offered to phone us when our room was ready Our room,#714 was disappointing...a musty smell, broken tiles and peeling paint in the bathroom. However it was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable,.A great idea was wine tasting at 5pm each day, a lovely way to meet fellow travellers, Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for renovations, but there are plenty of diners and restaurants close by. The position of the hotel is so central to downtown and worth a visit. « less

Dear Recent Guest:
Thank you for your recent review on Trip Advisor. I am pleased to see you found our hotel to be a good location and service staff exceptional. I apologize that the worn bath room areas of your guest room was a disappointment. It not an excuse for worn paint and tile as it could be easily fixed, but the age of the hotel is at 100 years old and we are aware the baths are worn around the "edges". Our maintenance team is deep cleaning each room to correct these matters on a daily basis. In addition a design in the near future is scheduled to renovate the baths to a modern luxury! We would like to be your hotel of your choice if you return to San Francisco. So please contact me directly or review our "HOT" rate package deals on our website. You did note our staff and location to be superior and a great restful bed and quiet room. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have further concerns.
I wish you the best on your continued travels too.
