Conferences at The Banff Centre
Since 1952, conferences have been a central activity of The Banff Centre, providing delegates from Alberta, Canada, and around the world with world-class meeting facilities in a specialized environment that fosters inspirational learning experiences. Delegates benefit from the creative energies and showcasing of the Centre’s arts and leadership programming and events.
The Banff Centre’s conference facilities include more than 60 diverse meeting rooms, lecture theatres, and auditoriums, which can accommodate groups from five to 1,000. It features over 400 bedrooms, multiple dining venues, a recreational complex, and professional conference services.
Net revenues from conference activity are an essential source of funding to support arts programming at The Banff Centre.
The Banff Centre Revitalization Project
Summer 2011 marks the completion of The Banff Centre’s multi-year Revitalization Project. Major achievements of the project include the building of: a state-of-the-art meeting and learning facility, the Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation; new dining facilities, including a 350-seat dining room, an à la carte restaurant and wine bar, and a bistro-lounge; and an outdoor performance venue, the Shaw Amphitheatre.
The Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation offers 19 meeting rooms and a total of 21,000 square feet of meeting space. Meeting spaces feature touch control A/V, heating, and light control systems. All principal meeting rooms face west and offer amazing mountain views. The Kinnear Centre has ten break-out rooms, a skylit galleria, a resource library, a loading dock and freight elevator, a banquet kitchen, and a licensed bistro. The Kinnear Centre has been built to LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ standards, and will seek a designation of LEED® Silver. The Kinnear Centre has just completed a successful first year of operation as Banff’s newest meeting facility.
July 2011 will herald the completion of the Shaw Amphitheatre, an outdoor theatre with the breathtaking backdrop of the Canadian Rockies. Built overlooking the town of Banff, the Bow Valley, and the Bourgeau Mountain Range, the Shaw Amphitheatre will be one of the most spectacular outdoor performance spaces in Canada.
