I must say that I liked this hotel. My chief complaint is that I booked this hotel through Hotwire for $71 after taxes and fees. I could have booked the same room through the hotel website or through another travel website for $63 after taxes and fees. Does anyone go to Hotwire to book a room for more than the going rate? Of course not. You give up the assurance of the specific hotel and specific room type in exchange for a discount. Usually a sizable discount. I spoke to Hotwire via telephone and they would not even give me the Low Price Guarantee since the room price went up a little since I booked a couple of hours earlier and since they use the pre-tax rate, knowing that their taxes and fees come out to more than typical taxes and fees. The best part was when they hung up on me abruptly when I mentioned that I wouldn't have this trouble through Priceline. I would change this review if this issue was resolved but I have to rate this as terrible since the hotel has rooms booked for more than the going rate through Hotwire. That shouldn't happen. I wish that I could at least get the price differential from Hotwire instead of someone hanging up the phone. « less

We stayed at the Best Western Thunderbird Cookeville twice last year on our way back and forth to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. This place has a huge parking lot with a pool in the middle of it. The pool is lined with a grassy bank, hedges, and flower beds. This was the perfect place for my dog to take a walk. It was also ideal as a place to take my cat for a walk in his pet stroller. There was CP in the lobby which we never took advantage of. We always drove to the local McDonalds instead. But it was convenient that they sold postcards about Tennessee and black bears in particular. « less

This was one of the better Best Westerns I've stayed at. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, Southern hospitality was graciously extended by staff, the breakfast was good with fresh fruit and Danish, the bed was quite comfortable, the heater/air conditioning unit worked well and was quiet, and there were restaurants available close by. « less
