Long Island MacArthur Airport, also known as Islip Airport (IATA: ISP, ICAO: KISP, FAA LID: ISP) is a public airport located on Long Island, in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is seven miles (11 km) northeast of the central business district of the Town of Islip, which owns and operates the airport.[1] It is the only airport on Long Island apart from John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport (which are both serving New York City) with scheduled service by major airlines, and serves over two million passengers a year.
Long Island MacArthur Airport covers an area of 1,311 acres (531 ha) containing four runways and two helipads. For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2005, the airport had 173,346 aircraft operations, an average of 474 per day: 79 percent general aviation, 15 percent scheduled commercial, six percent air taxi and under one percent military. There were 302 aircraft based at the airport: 58 percent single engine, 13 percent multi-engine, 18 percent jet aircraft, nine percent helicopters, one percent ultralight aircraft and 3 percent military.
