While there aren't that many hotels on the water, there are some. The Loews is certainly one of them. And it's a great property on Coronado looking back towards San Diego. As such, it has beautiful grounds, it's quiet, there's parking, a good restaurant, a great pool, and activities for all ages.
But, what makes this a GREAT property is the attitude everyone who works there has. Even the guy they've got scraping people's gum off the concrete (I'm not saying that the gum was an issue -- instead that even people who you wouldn't necessarily expect to care about the customer experience DO CARE).
Seriously, this is a GREAT hotel and it's run by people who understand that a great experience is more than just having a good location, it's managing so that all of your staff care!

Just returned from Loews Coronado beach hotel. Lovely resort - newly done over. Everyone there went out of their way to be helpful . The rooms were spotless with very comfortable bedding. Easy place to get around with a great pool set-up and really nice lounging areas.Lots to do - beach,tennis, boating, biking , harbor cruise,dining at their French restaurant or just lounging at the pool « less

I attended a 3 day business conference at the resort. It is very convenient to get to from the San Diego airport (about 7 miles). The staff were excellent for both the conference events and personal needs. The banquet food was much better than your typical conference food. I did use the spa and had the Traveler's Rest massage, which I highly recommend. Massage therapist Richard was excellent. My only complaint was about the water pressure in the shower. For ladies with longer hair it is not sufficient water pressure. I found that the shower in the spa was much better than the room. One other note - you really do not need to Valet park. Their is a parking garage under each building so you are better off self parking. « less

We arrived for a conference for a 5 day stay. We unpacked and kicked back to relax, our AC kicked on and the noise was unreal. The Engineer came to the room, said the unit had gone bad, and we would have to move. He realized the amount of stuff we had and made sure we moved to a suite with a sunset and sunrise view, and a view of San Diego and the bridge. They were gracious and friendly. Thanks for a great experience, we will be back. « less
