While this bed and breakfast itself is beautifully decorated, the management is slightly a disappointment. I had read other reviews about the lack of hospitality, but I didn’t have much of a choice when a family member decided to get married there. Luckily the Bride and Groom had a wonderful day, and did not hear all the awful things that we going on (such as the cake being left in the hot kitchen- causing part of the fondant to melt).
We all got the feeling that we were not really welcomed there. Management told us only the groom could ask for the temperature to be changed. It may be a wonderful and lovely B & B (I cannot say since that was not my reason for visit), but not as a place for events such as weddings. « less

Management response from Islandhoppinggal, Owner
First, my apologies that you did not enmjoy yourself while a guest at our inn and at this beautiful late October wedding. We do try to offer a high level of service toour guests and this wedding in particular was very memorable, not only for the beauty of the bride and handsome groom, their decorations and detail, but also the fact that we has a wonderful opportunity to create a vegan menu for the bride and a few of the guests as well as their banquet selection. Researching and creating vegan cupcakes and cookies and pumpkin ravioli was fun as was remembering to buy soy milk and non dairy butter. I would like to adress two points you mentioned. The fondant did not melt in the hot kitchen. In fact, the fondant cracked during the night before when no one was in the kitchen. Fondant, if refrigerated, can sweat, casing it to drip and the piping to run. Unlike buttercream, which must be refrigerated, fondant is used both to allow th ability of the baker and decorator to work on the cake over a few days as well as avoid refrigeration. The beautifully sculptured branch and sugar flowers were weighty and fell. Luckily the groom's mother, creator of this masterpiece, was on hand to repair the damage. As to the temperature of the room, we will always acquiesce to the host and hostess, in this case the bride and groom, as to their permission to change the temperature of the room. There were 40 other people in the room to consider and it would not be fair to not be considerate of their comfort without first checking with the host. I am sorry you did not enjoy yourself but as you indicated the bride and groom had a wonderful day.

We deeply appreciate your hospitality, care and attention on our very special family reunion weekend at your wonderful, astoundingly beautiful home. It is truly inspiring to those of us in business to see your organization and interaction skills in action (including the training and leadership of your wonderfully warm and competent staff). Our clan will never forget the role of Long Branch in their legacy and are further bonded by their memorable stay at Cedar and Beeches ( and so love Long Branch’s fantastic renaissance in which you play a key role). « less
