The ultimate in Southern Charm! Historic Boone Tavern was my base for my Fathers funeral in nearby Mt. Vernon, KY. After the service I hosted.a luncheon that exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend the restaurant as well. Thanks to the staff and management for making my stay here special. I can't wait to come here again the next time I come back to my Bluegrass roots. « less

This hotel is run by the students at Berea College, all of whom are on full scholarship and working their way through college. it has been recently renovated and is really a first-class operation, with everything you would want, inclding wi-fi. I was impressed by the special environmentally friendly packaging of the soap, etc. provided, as well as the "tell us when to wash your sheets" policy. There are attrctively furnished public rooms for gathering with your friends, and it is right next to a lot of interesting craft shops and the workshops used by students to make beautiful weavings, wood products and jewelry. The food and service were good and the people were just wonderful. Be sure to take the Berea College tour, because the college is an inspiration. « less

Loved this hotel! When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by a young man who referred to me as Sir. He came out with the cart to help get our things but when he saw I had it all, ensured that the doors were open for me to get inside! The front desk was extremely friendly and insightful about the area. If you go, you'll probably meet a gentleman by the name of Mr. Fred. He gives his own tour of the lower part of the hotel giving history of this historic hotel, the influence of the distinguished liberal arts college and can even tell you the paint types in the hotel and why they were chosen! It's a beautiful hotel, with a fantastic dining facility! Very affordable breakfast served by the most genuine people. Most of the food is locally grown, even down to the maple syrup and sorghum! I would suggest a trip to Berea to anyone who loves the influence of the arts and truly is looking for a humble place to visit. You'd be missing out if you didn't stay at this hotel! Look for deals online! Make the most of your trip and cash! « less

Thank you for your outstanding review. I couldn't have said it better myself. I am glad you got a chance to do a tour with Mr. Fred. When you come back you should take a "student led" tour of the campus. Hope to see you soon!

We arrived without a reservation so had a basic and quite small room for two nights and so appreciated the nice lounge on our floor. The hotel has been recently and attractively renovated. We ate two dinners and two breakfasts in the dining room. The menu is interesting and the food excellent; service by students is slow and the dining room is perhaps understaffed. Our room included a $24 coupon for breakfast. Snowbirds coming or going to Florida should definitely spend a night here and take time to shop at the wonderful craft stores in Berea. « less
