I don't expect luxurious accommodations when traveling on business, but a little honesty and clean bedding seems reasonable.
Where to start...I believe this Westin hotel thinks itself much finer than it is. When I arrived, I was forced to use valet parking and was told by the attendant there were no others options...so imagine my surprise when a colleague drove up 45 minutes later, asked for self-parking (as I had), and was directed to it. When I learned Valet parking is $26/day, I was less surprised I had been lied to. (Not less irked, but less surprised.)
The room was fine, but the furniture was very tired, bumped, and bruised, the bathroom was dusty with remnants of the last batch of disinfecting fluid in the tub, and the duvet was stained.
::shudder::
If you're going to use snowy-white linens, for the love of God, make sure they are washed and stain-free!
I called the front desk on day one of my conference to see what time sessions began since hotel staff had neglected to update the meeting dates/times flyer on the wall. Remarkably, the front desk had no idea the conference was even in attendance. Roy's response was, "I think I remember seeing something about that. Let me call you right back."
Stil looking forward to that phone call, Roy.
The most absurd part of the stay was finding out that conference attendees would be charged $75 PER REGISTRANT to use the wireless service in the conference area. I lay this egregiousness squarely on the hotel, not the conference organizers who tried their best to get us a better deal.
The young woman who checked me in was lovely. The woman who checked me out thought I was from Mars when I asked for a receipt which I insisted upon based on the phenomenal amount of trouble we had just making the reservation and getting confirmation. (In fact, making the reservation and getting confirmation was SO incredibly difficult and convoluted, the conference organizer sent a note to the hotel manager asking her to apologize to me. I appreciated the gesture on his part. The hotel never did contact me.)
I won't be returning to this hotel anytime soon and, based on comments, neither will our conference. « less

I've stayed here twice this year, and each time there were lots of small things that went wrong. The hotel heat/ac must be hard to control, because our conference room alternated between being hot and being freezing. Last time, I couldn't get my room to be cool. This time they were testing the fire alarms and decided to do this at 7:15am!
This could be a great hotel if they could just operate it competently. « less

We stayed here on a recent trip to Washington DC to attend the innurnment of our Father and Mother in Arlington National Cemetery. The staff at this hotel is very friendly and helped us out immensely When it became apparent that the US Postal Service had mishandled the shipping of our Mother's Urn.(Another whole story!) They were very helpful and the director of Security was on it from the beginning. And even when she showed up the day after the funeral, he was on the phone calling us and apologizing for the distress we all had. It wasn't his fault at all and he was instrumental in making sure our mom's remains were handled properly, and sent to the proper authorities to join with our father's remains. There was a great bartender, (Brandon?) who really helped us to enjoy our family time and relax. The first night of our stay, the air conditioning was down, and being on the 10th floor with no windows to open, I have to say it was quite uncomfortable. We spoke to the hotel about how uncomfortable we were and they agreed and took off charge for one night.This hotel couldn't have been more accommodating and I would consider staying there again. « less

Well, stayed here for 3 nights for a recent work trip to Arlington. This is a newish hotel, in downtown Arlington which itself all looks only about 5 years old :) Staff are friendly, facilities are good, and though the place is perhaps a bit pricey, I did feel I got value for money.
Location is great - 3 mins walk to the nearest Metro, and the immediate area has some interesting eateries/drinkeries (albeit in very new buildings). Not much to actually see in the area, but as it's easy to travel into DC from here, so the hotel could be a useful place to hang out if you get a good deal. One comment about the rooms - there are large (new, pleasant-looking...) apartment blocks at the rear of the hotel, so hotel rooms are overlooked by a gazillion other (apartment) windows.
My ONLY complaint - wifi in the rooms not free (around 10USD per day, discount for longer). Though fast, this cost was a disappointment (and free wifi in the bar area was glacially slow). That said, it was nice to have free access to printers (for boarding passes etc.) downstairs. « less

"This has to be the easiest reservation I have ever encountered, as far as a group reservation anyway. When I made group reservations for my other daughter's wedding in Houston a few years ago, it was a nightmare! Wish I would have known about you then." Carolyn H. - Boston, MA
"This makes things so easy and I can't believe it's free. I have been telling my family and friends about it. Thanks!" O.H. - Long Beach, CA
