I called the Hotel because I wanted to send something to my daughter’s room. I originally dealt with the enthusiastic In-Room Dining Operator who spoke to me about the pastry platter and how the pastry chef made the items daily. She assured me that the platter would be delivered by 3:00 that day. By 8:00 I had not heard anything from my daughter so I asked her if she received anything. She had not. When I called the In-Room Dining Department they had no record of my order from In-Room Dining Operator. That night it was agreed she would get what I originally ordered and that I would not be charged. The next day my daughter received a very cheap version of what I originally ordered not anything you would expect from the description of the items. I then called In-Room Dining again and spoke to Matt who was very kind and apologetic and sent a very nice fruit plate and bottle of wine to the room. Prior to the arrival I wrote an email telling that we liked our room No 1139 very much and when we checked in, we got the same room. On my birthday a little cake was delivered to our room with a candle and a kind greeting card. All the staff was very helpful and kind, the room and the view from the big balcony amazing and we also enjoyed the soft music at the pools which could be heard also on our balcony, very relaxing. Also appreciated the adult pool, where we could have a peaceful doze under the umbrella.The room was very quiet, we could not even hear anything from the neighbouring room, wifi was efficient. The Aveda products are great in the bathroom, I even went to buy some products because they were very high quality. But unfortunately our stay had it's bad points: The reception staff are completely out of their depth. Having read the hotel directory i followed the instructions to request a turn down service for the duration of our stay. Day 1 and attempt number 1 was done over the phone....fail! Day 2 and attempt number 2 was done face to face at reception.......fail! Day 3 and attempt number 3 was done over the phone and at reception....fail! By day 4 i had given up hope......but wait, what's this....a knock at our door for turn down service....at 16.45......fail!!!! This coupled with countless qestions they had no answer to, the lack of a late check out in a half full hotel, and a $50 charge for the two of us to take a shower at the spa (the staff at the spa were very friendly, this is not a reflection on them) before leaving, means we will not be staying there again. There is perhaps no better blending of history and contemporary anywhere in Miami Beach. Having just wrapped up our 8th stay in 5 years, we are still absent anything we could complain about. Kudos, by the way, to the new manager, Alex A, and his amazing team. Particular compliments from our most recent trip are very much in order for Luis at Check in, David at Valet, Alejandro at 1500 (Host), Ana (Breakfast) at 1500, Matthew at 1500 (Dinner), and Tommy at the Cabana Bar!
