The Hotel Niederländischer Hof first opened in 1901 and since then established itself as one of the leading hotels in Schwerin. In 1920 the hotel expanded into the buildings at Alexandrinenstrasse overlooking the "Pfaffenteich".
The building now stands under heritage protection. The hotel name commemorates the wedding of the Duke of Mecklenburg with the Dutch Queen of in 1901.
