Our band program chose to stay at this hotel for our annual state trip. We provided business for about fifty rooms. Below is a list of the issues we had: Right off the bat, there was only one service elevator working, this presented many issues. Don't lose your room key or you will be charged $5. Luckily, all of our kids were responsible enough to turn them in. (I've been doing this for over 10 years and I've never had a hotel ask for the room keys). The hotel employees take inventory of every single item in the rooms including small hand towels so be sure to leave it all in the room or you will be charged. We had some rooms that were missing towels. (Also something I've never dealt with on a group trip or personal trip). Not prepared to handle breakfast for a large group. Only one waffle iron and very limited spacing. Breakfast is served at 7 am on Saturdays and this presented a challenge for our group having to rehearse early, so plan ahead. Some of our adult guests were extremely offended when they were accused of smoking in one of the rooms. This was not the case and I was very upset about these false accusations. It almost felt as if they were watching our every move from the moment our group checked in. After meeting with our parent chaperones and staff, they all share the same feeling. Just overall not a great experience for our kids, our parents and our staff. When looking to book a hotel for a large group be sure to book with someone that understands high school students and how to accommodate a large group. I felt our kids were great overall on the trip and I feel that all we got were complaints from the hotel about a pillow fight and small towels missing in a couple of rooms. Kids are kids and I feel these things should be taken into consideration. We will look to book with a different hotel next year.

Thank you for your response. Yes, we do charge for missing room keys and the keys that we use have microchips in them which are very expensive to replace. The keys at MOST hotels are the magnetic strip kind that hotels receive free from pizzerias. We purchase our own keys. As for the linen, there were 2 pillows, 11 wash cloths, 4 hand towels and 5 bath towels missing from various rooms upon check-out. We do inventory every piece of linen in our hotel as do all others. These items are property of the hotel and if removed from your room, it is assumed you have chosen to purchase them. The item cost of each item in a room is in the blue binder in every room. I will agree we are not nor will we ever be equipped to handle 150-200 people all at once in our breakfast area. We are a limited service hotel without banquet space. The pillow fight that occurred in the hotel was quite disruptive. Not only did it happen in the hallway and destroy 2 pillows, it also disrupted several rooms around where the pillow fight occurred and their room charges were refunded to them for this disturbance. As for the smoking, once of the chaperones on 2nd floor was smoking something other than cigarettes in his room from the moment he checked in on Thursday. We are a 100% smoke free property and will ALWAYS charge when someone smokes in our rooms because it is expensive to have these rooms treated after said smoking has occurred. Our hotel successfully handles large groups all of the time. However, it takes the cooperation of the group along with the hotel to assure that things go smoothly. Things like a pillow fight in the hallway of a business (Other people occupied the hotel that day except your group) are unacceptable and how a complete lack of discipline and respect from the adults who were charged with watching these children. We provide the same professionalism to a group of 2 rooms as we do a group of 50 rooms. We do not provide special treatment based on how much money we are making as we ALWAYS provide the same level of service to everyone and expect the same courtesy in return.
