The Racine Zoo is a zoo situated on 32 acres (130,000 m2) on the shore of Lake Michigan in Racine, Wisconsin. With more than 70 species of animals, the zoo's collection focuses on species native to Wisconsin, including a room dedicated to reptiles and amphibians indigenous to the state. The zoo also houses animals from around the world, such as a Masai giraffe named Twigga, black rhinos, Amur tigers, orangutans and snow leopards. Many of the animals at the Racine Zoo are managed under the American Zoo and Aquarium Association's Species Survival Plan.
The zoo's grounds are also home to a playground, a children's zoo, and a hands-on discovery center; free Sunday band concerts and the Animal Crackers Jazz Series are held during the summer. The Racine Zoo operated as a free-admission attraction until January 2007, when fiscal needs required the introduction of an admission fee.

Built for William Manegold and his family in 1897 the Acanthus Inn was originally a single-family dwelling. To this day the woodwork on the first two floors has never been painted and many of the gas-electric fixtures in the mansion still remain. The architect, Jacob Jacobi, must have been very pleased with a commission to undertake such an exceptional home. He was allowed to use the finest quarter sawn oak and maple components; two fire places, seven sets of pocket doors, a staircase balcony, huge front doors and wainscoting which adorn the house. However, the built in china cabinet in a shell and cupid motif steals the show.
