We are an outdoor property , with pool courtyard, centrally located to downtown birmingham. We offer a free deluxe continental breakfast and during the summer our guests have the pleasure of using one of the largest swimming pools in birmingham. We do special group rates for all our customers. Our property has five banquet/meeting rooms, "The Breakfast Room" which seats upto 60 people and the "The Banquet Room" which seats upto 200 people, they both have bars and dance floors. Our meeting room "ABC" seats up to 200 theater style and can be divided into 3 sections, which seat 10 to 50 people per section. Rates may very on setup style and number of people. Unlike most hotels with banquet and meeting space, we do not charge our customers for useing their personal choice of catering.

This Howard Johnson was convient from expressway and to shopping and restaurants. The room was clean but not too fancy - but then again for less than $60 what can you expect. The breakfast was muffins, bagels, ceral and the usual coffee and juice!
Again - we got what we were looking for, an inexpensive, comfortable, clean place to stay. And apparently there was some type of racing in the area and this place didn't jack up their rates - which I applaud them for!!!

Non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. Smoke detector in one room was pulled off wall and remote control for TV did not work. Pool looked like a crime scene which we knew would not be open due to season but was disgusting to even walk by. When we were asked how the rooms were, I told front desk clerk about the smoke detector being disabled and it did not seem to phase him. Have not tried the Howard Johnson brand in several years and will not try again based on this experience. « less
