We stayed at the Campbell Inn for one night and were pleasantly surprised. The price was $112 for two queen-size beds, and we were upstairs almost above the breakfast dining room. Inspite of the fact that it was next to a busy freeway (HIghway 17), it was very quiet. The beds were wonderful, and the room was quite roomy. There were two washstands one in the bathroom and the other outside the bathroom so my husband could do whatever at his and I had mine - plenty of room for our cosmetics, toothbrush, etc.. The pool area was nice-fenced in, and nice landscaping throughout. The greatest bonus was the wonderful complementary breakfast which included eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, an assortment of fruit, cereal, sweet rolls, tea, coffee, chocolate, orange juice and maybe some other juices, and perhaps items I have forgotten. I gave it VERY GOOD because it could use a bit of paint and the carpets look like they needed cleaning. The women at the desk were very nice and told me that they had given us this quiet room after I called and asked for one. I wrote this before reading the other ratings and can't believe that people were sooo negative about this hotel. « less

This hotel has some things going for it. Despite being right on a freeway they don't have a noise problem; but to solve that, the rooms all face one way... which doesn't get any natural air circulation, so our room was very, very stuffy. Our king room had a giant jacuzzi tub, jets and all, which was totally unexpected for this kind of room. But that weird feature wasn't really anything that we could have used in this brief stay-- and it does not in any way make up for the atrociously uncomfortable, rock-hard-yet-weirdly-springy mattress. I don't think it's fair to have huge expectations for a place like this, but a mattress that bad is just not acceptable. Seriously, it's not okay. That being said, as others have noted, the breakfast is well above average. Unfortunately the chairs you sit on to eat it are all stained and seemed a little gross and old, and you're surrounded by some strange, super-cheesy and dated decor. So again, it'd be too strong to call this 'poor,' but it's not a place I'll be staying again. I'll take a cheap continental breakfast and a normal shower and trade that for a decent mattress any day. Final note: staff was all pleasant and helpful, but I didn't have much in the way of interaction during a brief stay. « less

Staff was pleasant during check in and check out. The carpet in the room was dirty and felt sticky after walking on them. They really should consider offering room slippers if no refurbishment is planned soon. Sound proofing of the rooms are very poor and you could hear your neighbors and the freeway pretty loudly. « less
