Traveling five hours from home with my Mom for her surgery is never a fun or relaxing trip. The staff here went over and beyond to see that we were comfortable and had what we needed. Mom stayed here the night before and the night after her three night hospitalization. If you are needing a place to stay while a family member is in St Joseph's Hospital, this hotel is close enough that you can have the Hospital Security shuttle service drop you off and pick you for your visits. This is especially nice at times and saves you the parking garage fees. « less

the staff could use a boost but overall helpful. rooms were clean and well equipped. The location was perfect. Half a block from central Ave. Where u have most of businesses small restaurants and delis. also half a block from transit, buses and light rail. The light rail is a small train that takes u up and down cental ave. To several other streets where you can find a couple shopping centers. « less

This is a relatively low priced hotel in a high priced city, and we were here at a particularly busy time ( both spring break and spring training were going on). So we appreciated its advantages and made allowances for some of its shortcomings. The advantages were: A convenient location near the light rail; sidewalks; stores and restaurants in walking distance. A small and rather Spartan but very clean room with above average kitchenette. Openable windows with screens. Good shower and comfortable mattress. Well-designed table and chairs on casters. Very little noise from inside or out. A clean outdoor pool that gets afternoon shade, for those of us who like to swim but don't want to turn lobster-color. Negatives: 1) A very bothersome problem: the cooling system (a wall thermostat controlling a below-window heating/cooling unit) didn't respond to any thermostat setting but continued to run till the room's occupants got too cold and turned it off, after which the room soon became too hot and the 'cool' had to be turned back on. This became a real problem during sleep hours. 2) We were a bit irritated by the front desk clerks, some of whom appeared overwhelmed and aggrieved when approached by guests. Check-in was quite slow. 3) People considering a longer-than-overnight stay here should be aware that rooms are cleaned only once a week; you do it yourself in between times. You take out your own trash and exchange your towels at the front desk. There is also very little price reduction for longer (weekly or monthly) stays, which rather belies the extended stay concept. 4) There is a minimal continental breakfast supplied, mostly packaged items and fresh fruit. No milk or juice is offered. Although our short stay was quite pleasant, I wouldn't recommend this hotel until/unless the temperature control problem gets solved. « less

Checked in and was given a room with a broken thermostat and a dirty toilet (urine and hair on the seat). Requested another room, toilet has a cigarette burn in it which is more acceptable than obvious urine on the seat. Unfortunately the sheets were wrinkled and stained. Instead of requesting another room to who know's what surprises, I requested clean linens. I also asked when the room had been cleaned last as there was debris on the floor and dust on all the furniture. The front desk said they would send someone in to clean the next day. I had already gone to Walgreens to buy disinfectant and cleaning supplies and had cleaned all the surfaces but agreed to have someone come and clean. The next day, upon returning to the room, the bathroom smelled of urine and had water marks on the seat again. They did vacuum the room but there was still debris between the bed and the nightstand. I had to disinfect everything again. In any other situation, I would have gone to another hotel but I am here on business and have no choice but to stay. Thier "free breakfast" is a joke... no coffee, no hot water, and what appeared to be homeless people hovering over the 3-4 pieces of fruit. The elevators and stairwells may have been cleaned in the late 80s. I highly suggest staying at another hotel. or in the parking lot. « less

I've been traveling on business for more than 30 years. This was absolutely the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I booked the room through Priceline.com using the name your own bid process. This was not a good idea because I received a smoking room with a dirty toilet and furniture with cigarette stains. I tried to change the room but was told there were no non smoking rooms available. I left the windows open all night but the cigarette smell never went away. Recommendations - Do not use Priceline name your own price and do not ever stay at a Extended Stay America. « less

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review of your experience with us. I sincerely apologize that we were not able to move you into a non-smoking room. When using the name your own price tool it does not guarantee smoking preference. When we are not sold out we are happy to move you into a non-smoking room. Unfortunately when we are sold out the only option is the room reserved. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to provide you with a better stay the next time you're in the area.
