The staff were friendly and professional. The hotel location was quite good. It was walking distance to quite a few options for restaurants. In addition, it offered an attached bar & grill. However, you have to go outside and enter from a separate entrance.
Parking is in a covered garage just outside the front door, but the walk isn't covered so bring an umbrella if it's raining.
The room was average. I was on the 2d floor and furthest from the elevator. The room was quiet. The shower head was a 'one-option-only' type and it was a 'rain shower' style. So, if you like strong water pressure this wasn't a good option. The remote control for the television did not always work. I'm sure they would have done something to try and accommodate me, but I didn't ask (the remote control - to me - wasn't a big deal).
The breakfast seemed as though it was decent, but I didn't partake.
The room was worth it, though we got a group rate. Not sure what full price was. « less

We arrived earlier than anticipated after a 5 hour drive and fully expected to have to wait for a while until check in time. Fortunately, our room was ready and we checked in early. We were attending an event on the ODU campus which was right across the street, parking was very inexpensive and the garage was adjacent to the hotel. The place was spotless and the front desk staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet the next morning was fantastic! The only problem we encountered was the use of the room key card in the elevator. You needed the card to access any of the upper floors (great security feature), however sometimes one key worked, the other didn't, sometime neither worked. We rode upstairs with other guests who had similar problems. Other than that minor detail - great stay!! « less

Bottom line up front, “A Great Hotel”. Very new and clean rooms and the common areas are well maintained. The front side of the hotel - where I was offered nice views of Old Dominion University, but up until about 9:00 P.M. it’s very noisy. I’m a city boy by nature so it didn’t bother me, but for people that want quite, you should ask for a room facing away from Hampton BLVD. The check in process was very simple, and parking was $5.25 per day, which is worth to park in the very well lit garage. I would certainly book this hotel again and suggest other do as well. Close to Naval Station Norfolk, and downtown Norfolk, and the Ghent section of the city. « less

Customer service problems from check-in thru check-out. I was never sent the confirmation e-mail as promised, but wrote the number down. After standing at the desk for ten minutes, my reservation was only found under my rewards number. At 6:15 AM the next morning, I was woken up with an automated wake-up call from the hotel, one I never asked for. I complained to the manager, who didn't care. I'm spending good money to stay and expect a good nights sleep, not to be woken up 2 1/2 hours earlier then I needed, to do what? Watch the sun come up?. All I got was "Oh well, I guess it was from the person that was in your room before you". Upon arriving home, I have checked my credit card on line and see that I was charged higher then I should be and have spent hours on the phone with this company trying to get it resolved. I wish I stayed some where else, not at a Marriott chain nor this hotel in particular. If looking for a hotel in the area?, stay along the waterfront. The hotels are plentiful and cheaper. « less
