After battling the freeway from the airport we made it to our first stop of our LA adventure. Couple of great guys at reception upgraded our room and chatted about a long ago fishing trip in northern Ontario. Needless to say he won us over. Parking was right next door which made it handy and was very reasonably priced. Our room was modern contemporary which is usually not our taste but we loved it. There was a cozy little sitting area with a tv that flipped around in case you wanted to view while in bed. The shower was huge and we loved all the little toiletries that came with it. Can't say enough good things about the bed, soooooo comfy, don't know whether it was because we weren't fighting over space with our 3 felines at home or not, but it was worth some extra zzzzzzz"s. The great thing about this hotel is its location, right beside a walkway that takes you to all the waterfront paths and restaurants. We enjoyed an early morning jog, along with many others on one of the many paths. I kept telling my husband "I could live here". We never got to try the restaurant in the hotel as we wandered down across from the Queen Mary for a super steak dinner, but I could only imagine how good it would have been. We were amazed at how quiet it was while there, mid May and not a sole in sight after 9, which was fine for us but not if you're into night life. Overall a great start to L.A. « less

This use to be a Avia hotel. As such it is a boutique hotel with very modern decor. Parking was across the street at 24/day. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel has a total of 8 floors only with level 8 as the rooftop pool. Great views from up top. Pool is kinda small with only 6 loungers to lay back on but there are other tables n lounge chairs by the pool.
The room was clean and very modern. The shower was by far one of the best Ive had. Very powerful, hot, fully tiled and very big.
Would highly recommend if you are in LB. Great restaurants within 1 min walk, as well as movie theatres if your really bored that are 2 min away. « less

I was in Long Beach for meetings on the Queen Mary and looked on the Web to find a place to stay. I did not want to stay on the QM as the reviews were off-putting and also as I had crossed on her in my youth I knew I would be disappointed. That was a good move. I chose the Hyatt The Pike for location and price - a good choice. The design is superb, the location is central and the price is low for the value. There is good parking next door and a free shuttle directly to the ship. And on the roof there is glorious pool with views to boot. The only drawback is the breakfast menu which is overpriced - so don't eat there. A real find. « less

Came to Long Beach for the last day of the Indy May 21, 2013 and booked a few extra days for a little get away. World class service any request big or small was no problem and done.It 's a great location close to the Harbor with restaurants across the street and many more a short walk away. This location was wonderful for the Indy very close but not too close to all the action. Nice pool top area to relax and enjoy a beverage and good breakfast in the little restaurant downstairs. The lounge was also nice for a glass of wine. Rooms were clean and I am very particular chic and comfortable The suites are very nice but we choose a standard king because of the view. Suites are located so there is no view of the Harbor and coming from a place we don't see the ocean that was important for us. Nice stay! « less

We found the rooms at the Hyatt to be extremely comfortable and great value for money. We were too busy on this trip to use the roof top pool in the day time but it was a great place to relax with a bottle of wine at night. Staff were without exception execellent. Long Beach is a bit away from the main action in LA but as long as you know this then this hotel is highly recommended. « less
