I enjoy staying at Holiday Inn Express locations throughout Canada and the United States. I am a Priority Club member and manage to get a few free nights on points every once in awhile. This time around I didn't have enough points for a free stay, but redeemed a few points to get about 30% off. The Express locations seem to always have breakfast included (Which is nice), While the selection is not stellar; it is enough to get you going for the day and free is always a good deal!
Some people say the location is remote, but its fine as a hub to visit the Tulip Fields, Outlet Mall, Costco, Walmart, Target etc. I feel its safer and better situated than in Seattle and definitely a lot cheaper. The hotel is also much newer and cleaner than Seattle as well. If you are like me and visiting from Vancouver, BC; it is like a halfway point North to the border or South to the Seattle Premium Outlet Mall.
The staff is friendly and there is McDonald's a short walk 2 minutes away (OK five if you walk slower than me). The overpass to the highway is right there to get you to the city side or you can get onto the highway back to Vancouver or down to Seattle in about a minute. « less

The check in was fast and our room was spacious. The people above us were noisy walking across the floor (i think they were pacing) but it did stop and we had a good night's sleep. Typical breakfast for a Holiday Inn Express. We like staying at these hotels because the quality is consistent in both Canada and USA. « less

Nice hotel, staff is pleasant and room was - and - smelled clean.
This would be our second stay here. Just don't trust your GPS because the road it should be has changed and our unit was confused, fortunately at that point you can see the sign so you can easily figure it out by heading towards it. There is also a McDonalds near before you get to the hotel.
You are greeted in the lobby with a variety of cookies and coffee.
Because of the outlay of their suites it accommodated 2 couples nicely with an adjoining bedroom which worked for the privacy factor.
Bathroom was well stocked. I had emailed ahead to make sure there was extra bedding for the pull-out couch and extra towels because of the 4 adults and was pleasantly surprised to arrive to all we had asked for including extra pillows.
Beds were comfortable even the pull out couch. Main bed had bedbug protector which my daughter was extremely happy about since that is her biggest concern. We already knew ahead of time we were OK regarding that because we always check bedbug registry right after checking Tripadvisor for reviews and both checks passed the tests.
We arrived in time to make use of the hot tub which was nice and hot, and the pool looked clean and clear. Ample parking and was sufficiently lighted.
Breakfast was better than most typical hotels. There was nice selection of hot and cold choices and the girls were on top of keeping it stocked of course it is not gourmet but you are wanting something edible and since it is included in your hotel cost it does the trick. The pancake machine was an interesting change to the waffle machine and our son-in-law amused himself making his pancake.
It is a good central location for various stores and shops. We like Burlington for Costco instead of trying to shop at the Bellingham Costco and coming from Canada it is not that much further and much less congestion. The new Cabella's is only 30-40 minutes more south which my son-in-law refers to as Red Neck Disneyland and is an interesting place to send the guys if you want to get rid of them while shopping at the outlet stores beside it.
